At least the 1st shop didn't charge for not fixing it. Hope you fare as well with the 2nd. What's wrong? Specializing in old turbos may not be much of a specialist. Everything is in the archives but post the prob anyway. Anyone can drive a new car. Answer:

Check the cold start as well.. Might want to check the AFM connections and make sure it is working. Reseat and clean the plugs to the ECU. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1977 280ZTurbo /intercooled 13.02@105 South east Z shoot out 7 Link Answer:
Get a FSM & go through the trouble shooting process. That's the most direct way to fix these cars when you don't know what you're doing &/or what the problem is. Shotgun & throwing parts only leads to money spent. Unfortunately, the hired "specialist" may continue along these along these lines & expect pay for his misdiagnosis & thrown parts. You'll have to pay for his parts as well. Anyone can drive a new car. Answer:
I vote for WigenOut-S30's suggestion, clean and reseat ECU plugs......fixes my ZXT up every time....unfortunately the fix only lasts a few days... Junkman is right! Get a shop manual. It tells exactly how to set the TPS switch. That switch is a nasty little bugger and you need a meter of sorts too! Hope this helps! We don't want to see you throwing good money after bad. I had the same problem once, called a guy and asked about troubleshooting the Turbo.... he was all too happy to take my money and rebuild my turbo even though there was nothing wrong with it! Luckily, I went and bought FSM and found the problem stat! Oh, and I had a bad O2 sensor.... that will mess up your engine/turbo performance big time too! giZmo Answer:
The tps/tvs on a turbo only has an on/off postion. On at idle, off when the rpms reach 900. --Denver 6-29-1999 1st post. 82 280zxt 4 spd auto 73 240z--lsd, cv axles ferget donations, I'm into blackmail. spindle pin puller for sale. Ya, but it needs to be set for on/off at the right RPM. Plus, the switch could be bad (shorted) and/or wet. Post Edited (Apr 3, 2:18pm) Answer:
Also the coolant sensors, as well as a sticking or defective AFM, or even if its worn out or something. If it's an auto, check the kick down/wot switch on the top of the accel pedal. If that isn't activited under WOT, the ECU will not go into "power" mode. Check for bad, mismatched, or clogged injectors, fuel system, pump, etc. List can go on and on, but all these checks are simple and can be done easily by yourself.
