Well Zarah recieved her final death blow today. AAA was going to cut me a check for the repairs and let me fix the car myself. Unfortunately I had a loan against the car so the only way to make it work was to cut a check to a shop and then have them cut a check to me. Unfortunately, I coudn't work that out. The other option was to take the check to the bank and try to get them to sign it over to me and explain that I needed to source the parts myself. Well they didn't go for it. I paid them off with the check and took the the $100 left over and bought me a new pair of shoes.
Thanks to everyone who's been a big help to me. Wish I could've enjoyed the car for more than a week after 2 years of building it, but that how life goes. The motors already accounted for, but I'm going to be parting the car off and selling all the fuel, suspension, ems, etc. So keep your eyes open for that.

That sad... How much do you want for your Haltech, injectors and surge tank?

So you had to hand over the check, but do you still have what's left of your car? I mean there are a lot of people here who could help you put something back together for not a lot of money, I would think. Get a shell and start transfering parts.

Haven't thought it out yet, but my guess will be 1k haltech. $300 injectors. $50 surge tank. Or so. None of these parts have more than 400 miles on them. Haltech already has a good map and was prefossionally wired. Would be plug and play straight into a z.

I don't have the motor anymore. The frame needed a $600 straightening, and I already sold the motor. I was going to fix in my my neighbors backyard, and use the money for an rb25 swap. I don't have money to start over again with a shell and what not. I'm just going to pay off all these credit cards I've racked up with my Z and get out of the car game until I have a career job and my own garage.

Let me do my finances realy quick and Ill get back to you. Also, just incase you might be interested, I have a 240Z shell (donor car). Its not rusted through on the front frame side yet. Sad to see a nice Z go to waste.

Well, if the shell is decent & don't go for something exotic, it can be fixed pretty cheap . Many on this forum have spare parts cars with lots of unused stock parts.

IMO you need to loose the credit card debt as you said you intend to.No need to pay high interest on a car. May you can try again sometime. I saved my car twenty five years. Now I have some extra money to spend on it. Other things should come before any car. It's your choice.

The problem was it was my only car. If I had a second car, I would've kept it and fixed it over time. Since the motor's gone, I don't care to fix the car. NA z's bore me. I'd need 4k to rb it, and I'm not going to spend that kind of money on the car. I traded the motor I had for a car that I could drive while I fixed the car up and put an rb in. I was going to do that with the insurance money, but the bank wouldn't give it to me.

Not sure what state you are in but I went through a similar issue with an insurance company. They say they have to cut the check to you and the lien holder. This is not true, the law states they can, not that they have to. I argue the point that the damage was done to my property and I was due the funds. My contract with the lending institution had nothing to do with it. If the lending institution ever repossessed the vehicle to satisfy the loan you are still responsible for the difference of the amount owed and the amount they sell it for, regardless if it is wrecked or not.
You do have to fight for your rights, just ask the insurance company to point you to the law that requires them to cut a joint check. Look it up on line and read it all, not just the part the insurance company wants you to read.

Well unfortunately it's already a done deal. The bank already took the check. I try and think positive like maybe the Z just wasn't meant to be right now. Wish I would've figured that out 10k ago though!
I'm just going to focus on making money and hopefully 5 years from now or so I can do another car without having to worry about cash.

Well they bore me cause I don't drive on a track. But on the street when turbo dsm's rx7's etc challenge you in a straight line, I don't like getting left. This whole thread brings a tear to my eye. I feel bad man, I wish there was something we could do to help bring your car back. I know if I lost my Z after putting that kind of work into it I'd be crushed. I know it's silly to think a car can bring about emotion, but it's almost like raising a kid to be a world champion competitor. You feel so proud when it's almost there (it never really gets there) and then something like this happens and it hurts... Well, my condolences to you and your beautiful car, may she run the streets again some day.

Thanks for that response. I will be hanging around the zcar sites as my addiction isn't over. Only the money to support it is. I will build a bigger badder Z one day, and hopefully CA will not have fully clamped down on our hobby when that day comes.
Its going to take a few days before I start dimantling the car. Part of me keeps thinking I can revive her, but I'm a lot more mature than I was when I was building it, and realize that it will cost me more paying interest on cards then if I were to just start fresh one day with cash.

I have seen people sit in a bar every night after work, "socializing" for hours on end, spending money on beer that makes me cringe when I think of the total spent.
I knew a guy who, in 18 months on Okinawa, accomplished nothing but drinking and partying. When it was time to rotate, he asked me if "I wanted some yen", he had a gallon mayonayse jar from the chow hall filled with yen. I asked how much, and he says "64,000".
I was like: "ur, dude do you know how much that is worth now with the exchange rate?" He thought it was the same as when we rotated to the island and was only worth around $200.
"Uh, no, dude, that's like almost $650 now!"
He just sat there, stunned, looking at it. I asked him if he was O.K., and he didn't say anything. Just plopped down in a chair staring at the big bottle of money in his arm.
I asked again: 'Are you O.K.?"
He hesitatingly said: 'Uh, yeah, yeah I'm O.K. It's........It's just..... This is my throwaway change jar. This is whatever I had left over after going downtown and drinking, if I got $700 in loose change left over here, how much did I spend downtown on beer that I just pi$$ed down the drain?"
He genuinely was shaken at the realization that he spent that money and didn't have ANYTHING to show for it. No photos, mostly blank nights that he can't remember.....nothing.
THAT is a waste of money. And I see it all the time!
Working on your car is not an "investment" but it's not a waste of money if you have the means to afford it, and are saving towards old age before spending it on the car. Disposable income is disposable income. Regret not a dime you spent, enjoy the ride.

Ha thanks for the words of wisdom Tony. I always convinced myself that since most of my friends spent hundreds of dollars on any given night at the club/bar not to mention weed, and expensive jewelry, I shouldn't feel bad about spending on my car.

I got some Kenneth Coles which was a big mistake. I just called the body shop to make plans to get the car back, and it seems that I have to pay $600 for storage fees since they're not fixing it. This bad car luck is really going out with a bang.
