When I went to Maui, we had to sign a contract that said if the company found any "red mud" on the car we would have to pay some ridiculous fine, and this was after I had to sign a contract that said I wouldn't drive it because I was only 21 at the time. I wondered why until I realized that all the dirt on the damn island was red! To get anywhere not covered with pale skinned tourists you had to take a dirt road. Thank god for cheap car washes!
Anyways, I do that dirt road stuff in my truck all the time no need for a rental, just keep alot of scratch pens preloaded to fix random rock damage.

It's one thing to get a rental and drive it hard, but all together a different story to knowingly destroy a car, why? because I wanted to, it was fun.
To me it just shows the LACK of training of the youth in this country today by the parents. I would have NEVER considered doing something like that to anyones car. But then again my parents taught me to respect other peoples property, and belongings.

Hopefully they got charged for some sort of damages, even if the car was a pos. I agree, there is fine line between driving a rental car hard [which they take into account in cost analysis] and outwardly abusing the car like that. Pisses me off I can't rent a car when I fly in somewhere as well.
