What if?
Question:
You have a warrent for a traffic fine and you need to renew your vehical registration. Can you go to the tax office and renew your registration without getting arrested there? 78 280z Black Pearl 132K miles? could be 232k miles? who knows... "Datsun: We Are Driven" Answer:

i hope that they cross-reference their systems. it would sure make it easier to pick up people with outstanding warrants if they simply "show up" to the office instead of tracking them down. Answer:
Some states will not let you renew registration till all fines and in some cases BACK CHILD SUPPORT is paid in full! They garnish your tax refunds as well! Arrest is possible. Pay your fines and go to the court to present evidence they are paid, then get the paperwork vacating the warrant, AND KEEP IT ON YOUR PERSON for a WHILE! That literally is a 'get out of jail free card' because in most cases if you have warrants, they take you in, NO QUESTIONS ASKED! Even with the paper, you still might get hauled in! Most likely not. Most counties don't even coordinate that information unless there is a specific reason [warrant crackdown by the presincts]. I'd just all the DPS if I was you. I have been in your position, don't want to get pulled over and goto jail for past registration. From previous experiences, I already knew Houston and Austin have basically 0 communitcation, so I had it registered in Austin while I had a warrant in Houston. Above all, pay the fine if you can. I didn't because I was still going through the appeal process but they wouldn't drop my warrant. Just steal some tags & go unregistered. Renigade all the way. Anyone can drive a new car. Answer:
Gotta register in the same County as he lives in.........the same county where he refuses to pay the traffic fine. Answer:
If you are in Washington state you are screwed. If you have a criminal violation against your license you of course cannot get a new one but you cannot register any vehicle or renew that registration either. Oh yea - you can not sell the vehicle either. You are basically screwed. It is all cross referenced here now. It will auto check for outstanding warrants as well so you better check before you go. Want to know if your lisence is active and valid in Washington - it is all computerized for your pleasure as well. https://fortress.wa.gov/dol/ddl/dsd/Main2.asp Go here to check your WA license. maybe they don't want people with arrest warrants to have a car with proper registration? would be a shame to get pulled over for expired plates and then "ooops" you're arrested. Answer:
Thats one of the reasons we pull people over for expired registration. If someone hasn't renewed their registration, this could mean a number of things. (i.e., suspended license, no license, warrants, etc.) Spudea, I would take care of that warrant as soon as possible. Its not likely that you will be arrested if you walk into the courthouse to pay your fines and get everything straightened up. A traffic fine isnt really a big issue. The most they might do is just have a deputy escort your around the courthouse for safety purposes. But yeah, take care of it as soon as possible. If you get pulled over, or get in any other kind of thing with the police and they check your drivers license, or even your license plate, they'll know you have a warrant and they will arrest you. Pay the traffic fine and set a court date. Plead guilty and most likely the judge will reduce the fine and you will get refunded the difference. '71 240ZT Answer:
Listen to Zombie. I know in NC everything is cross referenced. You would not be able to renew without taking care of any tickets or warrants. Matt Answer:
"Thats one of the reasons we pull people over for expired registration." In California, that is the reason Whites, Blacks, and Asians get pulled over----more because they know the FINE will get paid. But a 51 Chebby with a Druham Bull on the door and plates that expired when Regan was Governor full over the cab with scrapiron and five front seat occupants? Eeeh, not worth the paperwork hassle, it's so overloaded we can't even impound it---let them slide, I see a Lexus coming over the hill, turn on the radar... One of my Pet Peeves, and I WISH they would do the "Cal Border Police" as an extension of the CHP, is to do a MASSIVE registration sweep and TICKET AND IMPOUND ALL EXPIRED REGISTRATIONS! THIS ALONE would do more for traffic safety and worker I9 enforcement in a WEEK than the federal government has done in the past 20 years here. That expired tag is the ticket to a DEPORTATION! Send em on the bus, no phone call, no nothing! Same goes for illegally "jumped tags" here with the "Frontera" Mexico Plates. I see Illegally registered MEXICAN tags here all the time---I mean, how bad is it when someone doesn't register their car in MEXICO! What they really are doing is jumping the Frontera Plates onto a vehicle they drive north of the border, and apply for duplicates on the LEGALLY registered vehicle in Mexico. Two for the price of ONE! What a deal! Though to give Mexico Credit, one feature they use that would make Law Enforcment MUCH easier here is they issue a Decal for the Rear Window---this is a duplicate of the Tag that is on the rear bumper. So if you are towing a trailer, you can actually read the registration number without having to pull someone over. It also makes it BLATANTLY OBVIOUS when someone has jumped plates, and if there ISN'T a Tag in the rear window----well that sends up markers as well! Man, I would cause an international incident were I given power. So what, I follow the damn rules, why shouldn't THEY? And why are they given preferential treatment? I gotta wonder what kind of crowd is hanging around here these days. Warrants.... When I was stopped at the Arco station in Sacramento a few years back, when the Sheriff asked if I had any warrants, I was actually shocked! I thnk my shock was relayed when I answered, too, he got a funny look on his face like "man, this guy LOOKS like he has warrants!" LOL Anyway, they put away their guns, and let me be on my way. But aside from a buddy who went up for a few years on "M" when he was in his early 20's, I don't think I know anybody with a warrant out for them. Well, there is the cop in the car club serving time, but that is a political thing, and a travesty of justice if I ever heard of it. When someone tries to run you over with a car, and you're in uniform---you would think you could use deadly force, huh? Not when second guessed.... The closest I ever got to handcuffs was on shore patrol doing drunk detail... In some states that qualifies me for law enforcement employ! LOL I digress... Man, warrants. Someone tried to run over an officer in uniform, who used deadly force and went to jail? NOT IN MISSISSIPPI!!! (Been there, done that.) P.S. "it happens to everybody" Uh......nooooooo, no it does NOT! I could probably quote some statistics to support that stance, but I don't think I will. Chances of actual INCARCERATION amongst the general public is would venture to say is 1 per some hundreds, if not thousands of individuals. This is a social strata that I am unfamiliar with, I do NOT know "everybody" who has even spent one night in jail.... That would be the EXCEPTION to the rule, instead of the rule. At least in my circle of friends. And to have a cop incarcerated, that's probably an even higher incidence of improbability. This site turns more Jerry Springer every day... I will not search for the post, but i recall tony going on and on about a incedent that involved him, his wife and friend. this post spoke of guns chasing people and daring them to f##k with them. i belive they were in a van that was loaded with guns. It was one of those i am a mean mother posts. maybe i am confused. what persona are we today? 1975 280Z [STOCK] the answer lies not within the question but rather within the answer itself! Answer:
"Not that I would consider spending a night in jail incarcerated..." Uh.......... "I did not have sexual relations with that woman, Ms. Lewinski!" I gotta ask, if being in the jail, deprived of the ability to walk away when you so choose, if you are NOT "incarcerated" what EXACTLY are you? Because to me, being clapped in irons, and then stuck in a cell with the door locked behind you and not being able to come and go SOUNDS like "incarceration" to me! I mean, "Quack Quack" Man, that SOUNDS like a duck, it might be a RECORDING, but chances are good, there is a DUCK making that noise! People Are Idiots, Just look around here and you will see! The post was of us returning to my friend's house after a day out shooting, and some GANG BANGERS deciding to threaten us and brandish a weapon. It was my friends WIFE who stuck the shotgun in their car. Having weapons in the vehicle is perfectly legal, EVEN IN CALIFORNIA if you are going to and from a range or designated shooting area. Are you implying the only people who have firearms are criminals? Sorry, that is Britian, Australia, Japan, and most of the other parts of the world---thankfully on that particular day we just HAPPENED to have firearms and the ability to return fire on these punks. That has nothing to do with me being in jail, and I really don't see what it has to do with this thread at all. They thought they would be bada$$es and "threaten the skinny readheaded weto" and got the tables turned on them, like the freaking cowards they are. Having common sense to defend oneself against hooligans does not make one a hooligan. I mean, seriously, Wallace has never spent a day in Jail, neither has his wife, nor mine. Nor have any of my general circle of friends---especially many of my long-term friends. I mean, to make the statement that EVERYONE goes to jail....Uh, Nooooo, not in my circle. Now those that decide they want to assault me, THEY may have spent a few nights in jail, and most of the people they know probably have---but not the people I knowingly associate with... Watching COPS for me, is like "where do they find these people"? My wife said it one day: We are not loosers, and we don't spend our time hanging out in bars getting drunk---therefore we never see this. I think she's right. I don't see that I'm missing anything. But I really don't know WTF you are trying to say there xriooo. What ARE you trying to say? People Are Idiots, Just look around here and you will see! Love how you always try to cling to the slightest shred of anything and manage to let the whole point blow right over your head Tony. Here we go, in the literal term, incarceration is in fact any form of imprisonment and I will agree you are correct on that point. However, in the social setting we live in, it is generally used to refer to long term PRISON, not sleeping off your drunken stupor for 6 hours in a holding cell before being released. The point of the matter, is that just because you never got caught in a situation leading to this end doesn't mean you should criticize those who are seeking advice to help prevent being, by your definition, incarcerated! I wouldn't consider this Jerry Springer at all, its simply a matter of someone asking for advice to fix a bad situation. But don't let me stop you, go ahead, elevate yourself above the rest of the rabble, we all know you are the shining pillar of the Z community and there is no way any of us will ever measure up in your eyes! "However, in the social setting we live in, it is generally used to refer to long term PRISON, not sleeping off your drunken stupor for 6 hours in a holding cell before being released." That IS incarceration. And if you get so snockered that you get locked up, then my point above is well taken. Apparently I have enough self-control (even when totally sh*tfaced) to comport myself with enough class and bearing to not end up locked up. I don't get in drunken brawls, nor do I do anything else like I see on COPS. If you do, fine for you. I just think it's an ignorant and wasteful way to live your life, and to not realize it beforehand, and to get into the position in the first place says a lot. Maybe I am the odd man out, maybe I was raised differently. But I know I have watched enough people get hauled off "wondering why", while I can still clearly sit back and "say why"... "just because you never got caught in a situation leading to this end " Says a lot about your using alcohol as an excuse to justify actions. I have always said, felt and believed that anything someone does while drunk is nothing more tha nthey would do when they are sober. It is so in my case, so I fail to see why I should excuse other people's actions while drunk, when I would never do those same things, sober or drunk. Nobody "gets caught" in a situation, they WALK INTO THAT SITUATION THROUGH THEIR OWN FREEWILL. Once you understand that, you start realizing nothing you do is a free ride, EVERYTHING reflects on you in one way or another. I don't swing on people sober, I don't swing on them drunk, either. I particularly despise belligerent drunks. And I steer clear of them. And steer clear of them when they are sober as well! I don't abide the "alcohol abuse excuse"... Sorry, I gotta stay by my guns on this one, not "everybody" spends the night in jail. Like I said earlier, I'm betting it's a fraction of a percentage. Though with the moral decay of society, the numbers are continually rising. Doesn't mean I have to accept it, nor endorse it! Hold yourself to a higher standard, and be amazed at your excellence. Lower your standards enough, and you simply regress into nothing more than an animal. Such is the human condition. I chose not to act like an animal. It's just that simple. Not to say I can't, I just don't do it willingly, I have to be forced to those extremes. People Are Idiots, Just look around here and you will see!
