120 speedo?
Question:
If anyone should happen to run across a 120 speedo out of a 79 ZX, and you don't plan to buy it yourself, please let me know. I'm looking to replace the 80 speedo with a 120 and so far, no luck in finding one. Can't look local, I'm in Michigan and this is a State that only believes in the Big 3. It's tough when you own foreign and live in Michigan. 1981 280ZX Turbo 60,000 original miles Still OEM (except for tires, fluids, and filters or course) Swartz Creek, Michigan It's a dog-eat-dog world out there, and I'm wearing milk bone underpants. I've been checking Ebay and will contiue to check. So far, no luck. Just an entire dash cluster, and from the looks of it, I wouldn't trust it to work. If you can find just the 130 mph face or an applied face, then all you will have to do is get it recalibrated. You will then keep your same mileage and cluster. Darrel, I had already and it's an emphatic "no". Like I said, Michigan barely recognizes foreign cars. There are only a handful of foreign car dealerships, and even fewer "good" mechanic shops. Forget junk yards, they crush these cars as soon as they come it. Plus the fact it's winter and barely a 2 digit temperature at the heat of the day, I'm beter online. If I haven't found one by spring, then I'll be able to add Michigan into the search. Thanks for the Thanks for the tip, though. I'll probably try it again when it gets closer to spring. 1981 280ZX Turbo 60,000 original miles Still OEM (except for tires, fluids, and filters or course) Swartz Creek, Michigan It's a dog-eat-dog world out there, and I'm wearing milk bone underpants. Always fun to see how close you get to auction end. I think I submitted and won a few bids that came in 1 second before ending. Sniper bidding is the only way you'll win on eBay - on a popular item and at a nice low reasonable price. Bidding early just mean that the Seller will get his relatives to bid on his item and inflate the price (Shill bidding - is alive and well on eBay) ******************** 1975 280Z (Stock) 303 Emerald Green Answer:

The above are mostly right about bidding on eBay but - if you're forgetful like me or do most of your internet at work; bid within a few hours of close as you can, bid your highest bid that you think the item is worth. Many times I've been suprised that no one bid near my max price. Of course I've been "snaked" by the literal last minute bidder who take the item for a few cents over my max. So - such is life. ive seen them in the junkyard here at san antonio, I once had a 80 parts car with the 130mph analog, and put them in my 83T that came with digital dash, I used the harness also, only gauges that worked was, temp, fuel, speedo, and tach, everything else i made aftermarket, I only cared about the tach like 10 bux or so in the junkyard down here, I can pull one if anyones interested, I was going to pick up one last week for the hell of it, but the wasp nest under the dash wasnt apealing as I dont own a Z at the moment lol 76 280Z 83 ZXT IC 16 psi STOLEN 86 300ZX RIP 80 ZX RIP Answer:
Maestro, if you don't win the auction, the next time I hit the salvage yards and find a 130 speedometer, I'll let you know. They're about 25-30 bucks depending on which yard I find it in. You can have it for whatever I pay for it and shipping costs, I won't be in it for a profit. John 82ZXT Answer:
