1985 300zx vs the blazer
Question:
the 300zx has a straight body, but it needs a paint job the man that owned it before him tried to give it a rattle can paint job and now the paint has little spots all over it where the paint didnt stick. the only thing he said was wrong with it was it needed a gasket on the turbo. now the blazer has a little bit of rust not to bad the speedo doesnt work and the 2 bbl on the carb only opens up when it wants to. and it is way down on power datsun.. ..shift_headache http://ohmudbog.com/ Answer:
also can anyone give me an estimate on how much insurance would cost on the 300zx. i would get an online quote but they email youre quote to you but all the email websites are blocked at school. if it helps im 17,and i completed drivers ed. also make sure its liability datsun.. ..shift_headache http://ohmudbog.com/ Answer:
You have to ask insurance companies for quotes (not us). I would assume a turbocharged sports car in the hands of a 17 year old would be asking someone for a lot of possible liability so rates would reflect that (the highest ones possible, i suppose). 79 280ZX -The best selling sports car of all time Answer:
i just want an estimate datsun.. ..shift_headache http://ohmudbog.com/ Answer:
estimate high. You just want liability which helps with price. Umm you dont always have to report it as a turbo, which would also help. but its a 20 year old car which helps price alot. i have only liability and i have never had a wreck, im 18, and i took drivers ed and i get a responsible student discount for good grades. With all that i believe its about 120$ a month. for you i would estimate around 250? i mean that could be low or high but u wanted an estimate and i am givin u one. FLAME ON Answer:
Ask your agent. He may need a vin to even get a quote. Rate is determined by driving record (SSN or DL), car, location & coverage. Carriers are computerized with huge databases & even simple things that we could just look up on a table now have to go through the machine to get a number. The 2 vehicles in question do different things. Sort of like using a Mercedes to haul things or a dump truck for family vacation. It comes down to a personal choice. I have the Z & am buying a truck because the Z can't haul stuff & the truck can't haul ass in the twisties. Anyone can drive a new car. Answer:
LOL, we CANT estimate, dodo brain. rates are based on location, age, car, level of coverage, etc, etc. just call and find out. estimates are free. 79 280ZX -The best selling sports car of all time Answer:
Yes they do ask if it's turbocharged or not when you're getting coverage...turbo cars cost more. They can tell just like you can by looking at the vin to see if it's a turbo or not. It cost me $80 a month when I was 17 to insure my Z31.... It's down to like $50 now..and I'm only 19. Liability only.. Answer:
does it hurt u to pick up a phone and call a insurance company...or wait till u get home and go to their website? white knuckle driving Answer:
Just do a search on auto insurance estimates, choose a company, and enter info. I did all my insurance shopping online. 3 Zs, 1 "Rusty", 4 more to go Answer:
some companies dont care what you drive if its liability only. State farm used to not care. my rates were the same for an 81 maxima as they were for an 83 280ZX. I would go for the 300ZXT. granted, its fast and your only 17, a bit dangerous, but that blazer is a P.O.S. If it has a carb then its probably a 2.8L v6. one of the worst engines ever made. not to mention bad gas mileage, crappy ahndling and overall crappy vehicle. plus, if its 4x4, you'd probably be tempted to do stupid things and could roll it. granted the 300ZX is fast and you will also do stupid things in it, but the 300zx is a more easily conrtolled vehicle incase you get into a bad situation. think of the 300ZX as a scalpel and the blazer as a dull butter knife. >Umm you dont always have to report it as a turbo, which would also help. That's very foolish advice, if the car is in an accident and they find out you haven't disclosed the true specifications of the car it will void the coverage entirely and they could possibly get your charged for insurance fraud if they really wanted to cause trouble for you. Insurance for turbos costs more, you can't simply not tell them it's a turbo. Besides, any good insurance company is going to look under the hood anyway. You have a very foolish insurance company then who would insure cars with no engine if given the chance, they're idiots in that case. Anyway it's beside the point regardless, if you have an accident they're going to discover it's a turbo anyway and if you haven't told them so bye bye insurance coverage and hello court date for insurance fraud. I have a friend who works at an insurance company, it's serious stuff lying about your car's specfications because things like turbos dramatically increase the cost of coverage especially for someone under 25. 85' 300ZX NA 86' 300ZX Turbo 88' 300ZX Turbo 89' 300ZX Turbo 300ZX Turbo Project Answer:
85 zx you are a retard! first off, when you give them your vin, they are going to know it is a turbo.. secondly you won't get charged with fraud.. think of how many women who don't have a clue what the hell a turbocharger is? IT SHOWS UP IN YOUR F'ing vin! a vin on a 300zx z31 turbo is going to read jn1C, and a non turbo is going to read jn1H... run a your vin on carfax and it will show up as a turbo.. insurance companys know about these things when they enter your vin on your policy.. do you honestly think they go by people's word? there are enough dumb asses that don't know what they are talking about, or are just plain dishonest.. if i had a n/a car, and turbo'd it would i have to call my agent and tell them??? i think not! did you eat led paint chips as a child? quit being the typical over analyzing anal retentive zcar owner.. ugh.. i swear if i stay on this board much longer iam buying a mustang --------------------------------- orange '72 240z blue '72 240z red (in places) '73 fairlady z 2+2 red '98 SWB chevrolet c1500 5.7 Answer:

Just because master_shake is obviously a very simple minded person with no clue about anything I will post some valuable information for others who might listen to fools like him. Remember, if you have made modifications to your car you must inform your insurance company of them. By failing to do so, it could be difficult to make a successful claim should you need to do so and could even invalidate your insurance policy. http://www.endsleigh.co.uk/web/policies/youngdriver/modified.html You must tell us as soon as possible of any modifications that are made to your vehicle. http://www.cgu.com.au/personal/car.pdf If you make any non-factory modifications to your vehicle, you need to let your insurance company know immediately. I do not believe failure to disclose changes is grounds for your insurance company to deny a claim. http://www.carinsurance.com/kb/content11656.aspx You need to tell us of any modifications or engine conversions to the insured car from the manufacturer's original specifications. http://www.theaa.com/services/insuranceandfinance/motor_policy_details.html I could sit here for hours posting every insurance companies policy under the sun, they ALL require you to inform them of modifications otherwise it voids your coverage and they could very well make formal charges if you have been scamming them for years. You are a total dumbass master_shake, go buy your mustang... 85' 300ZX NA 86' 300ZX Turbo 88' 300ZX Turbo 89' 300ZX Turbo 300ZX Turbo Project Post Edited (Feb 16, 2:44am) Answer:
Im not going to go telling my insurance company every time I put on an exhaust or a CAI or do a tune-up. I have seen engine swaps cause problems for freinds, but it was more along the lines of theft. I.E. if their car gets stolen and it has an engine swap, the insurance company will only give them book on thier car, they will not do squat about the engine swap. ok well let me say this.. there ARE ALOT of people that are going to jail in ms.. EVERYONE here modifys their car, and no one reports that.. if the insurance companys were to actually go out and go after ever one that did not report modifacations, they would go bankrupt.. seriously for every 10 cars you see here, i'd bet 4 of them are modified in some way.. no go ahead and harp on that one point, that I brought up and draw attention away from the origol point, that you don't have to report it as a turbo, because as soon as they run the vin they know.. you know Fing well i was right about reporting it as a turbo or n/a... --------------------------------- orange '72 240z blue '72 240z red (in places) '73 fairlady z 2+2 red '98 SWB chevrolet c1500 5.7 Answer:
You're an idiot, you said you dont have to report it to the insurance company if a non turbo is converted to a turbo which is just straight up wrong and stupid. Just because there are a bunch of ricer fools in your area who dont report modifications doesn't make it right. Sure everyone listen to this jackass if you want, dont tell your insurance company if you drop a turbo in an NA and watch them not process your claim if you have an accident then come back and tell this retard he was wrong :P 85' 300ZX NA 86' 300ZX Turbo 88' 300ZX Turbo 89' 300ZX Turbo 300ZX Turbo Project Answer:
You people make me laugh. When I put a turbo motor in my 77, I'm not gonna call and say hey guys, I just put a faster, much more powerful motor in my car, go ahead and jack my rates up an extra $15 a month, thanks, take it easy. If the car gets destroyed, ya lose your sweet motor, and you get your xxx amount of dollars for whatever the 77 (or what have you) was insured at. Now if someone puts a super high dollar motor, awesome custom suspension, nice expensive paint, etc in their car, and still uses plain ol State Farm or something, they deserve to get only $1000 or 1500 or whatever the base car was worth if it gets totalled. They need to get some good collector car insurance or something like that and pay those people high premiums, not to some run of the mill plain insurance company. Answer:

Dont take my word for it, call up your insurance company and make an anonymous general enquiry and ask them if you have to notify them of mechanical modifications made to your car, and if you don't what are the repercussions if you're in an accident.
