Bid and won a 1982 280ZX turbo, located locally, for a good price. seem nice and good, right? seller called me at 8pm, or rather, her "friend" pushy little b*tch. started off with insisting on the finality of the bidding and that i have to comply with the rules. I could not put in a word into it. apparently, me request to meet in person to exchange the cash for the car is outrageous. i HAVE to mail a money order, NOW, and they will arrange to ship the car to me.
mind you, the car is within 30 miles of me. all my attempts to arrange to meet the "seller" is met with more aggresiveness and threats. i felt like i was talking to a bill collector
i bet the car is not even theirs, and they were hoping for a chump to bite.
i hate scammers.

Dont blame ebay you purchased off a dodgy seller with 0 feedback score, sorry but that's pretty much your own fault there as you're always taking a risk buying off someone with a 0 feedback score. Just report them, negative feedback them, and save the next buyer from the grief you endured.

They say cash in person! I would contact dispute console located on your buying page and let ebay contact them to settle it. You are following rules in the listing they aren't. I would not send it to them if you can pick up in person. sounds too fishy if they won't let you do it.! Goodluck! Looks like a good deal.

Picking it up and paying cash is allowed in the auction, and you have made that offer.
I would be very careful when picking up the car. Have a second person with you, and have HIM carry the money... Or have them drive to a mutually agreed upon place like a bank, and transfer title and money there.
Good advice: never trust ANY VIN that is attached to the vehicle. make sure the STAMPED IN THE FIREWALL VIN is matching EVERYTHING on the paperwork, and that you get their Driver License Number on the bill of sale!

I don't think it is a scam. I think it is there car but there are HUGE problems with it and thats why they don't want you to see the car in person. Injectors replace twice and leaking again? Cheapo wal-mart battery with lots of corrosion, no working A/C or Heat. I would at least go and take a look. Tell them you are following the terms of the arrangement and they're not. You have every right to not follow through and don't have to complete the transaction, though ebay may not think so. Make sure VIN on the title and car match, make sure the names match, above all else contact the owner of the car and not the middle-man (woman?).

It may not have been the car owner that contacted you. One can observe a winner's id and scam the buyer for the payment without the real seller knowing what is going on.

no sane person would hand over money and wait for both the car and title to be delivered at the sellers convienience. also since it clearly says "Buyer responsible for vehicle pick-up or shipping" so that makes you the one that has the choice.
i would assume that either:
1) it's a scam or....
2) they are trying to scare a winning bidder off because they had a higher offer from someone else (or sellers regret at the low price).

If it's within 30 miles, you shoulda called and asked to look at it before bidding, IMO. Or at least had some kind of pre-correspondance with the seller.

the seller finally agreed on my requests, although she will have someone she trusts meet me. i am taking all advice here and following closely. the seller seems odd and i have a strange vibe about this in general.

Everything TonyD said, but I would make it a roadtrip for you and 2 or 3 buddies, just incase her aggresiveness turns physical when you need to thoroughly inspect the car BEFORE payment.
