All of the 4-5(?) body styles were made on the same (very small) frame, pre-dating the "K" cars by about 45 years. Dan Banks, the ZCCA historian brought his '37(?) Datsun firetruck to the NY ZCCA convention last year. It's a hoot! Mr. K drove off on his honeymoon in a 30s roadster. Both he and Mrs. K were like kids when they saw the truck, with smiles ear to ear. Answer:
My cousin had a 67 Datsun Pickup with a 350 in it... You pretty much had to pull the cab off the change the starter... --------------------------------------------------------------- (SOLD) Answer:
Uh oh, I'm waiting for the kiddies to chime in screaming to drop in an RB26. Answer:
That 1937 was in the auto section of the paper a couple of months ago. The streets in Japan were so narrow that the Datsun platform (car) was the only practical vehicle to make a firetruck. Now that's got to be worth a lot more as a one-of-a-kind. No, it said the oldest known "mass produced." Not that I actually have any prior knowledge on the subject, but the description did say that while Datsun did produce vehicles prior to the one for sale, they were hand made and took up to six months to finish. Come on guys, didn't they teach you reading comprehension in school? :) '88 Turbo "Nobody sings to me like Lucille" - B.B. King Answer:
Back then most Japanese roads weren't even paved either. I know there are "Japanese" cars produced about 50 years prior. I'm not sure if this one is the first mass produced one though. 1971 240Z "Fear is exciting for me." -Ayrton Senna Answer:
what year was datsun actually in business anyone know?? it was 1934 right??? or am i wrong? i never knew about 1914 Answer:
The guy is insane if he thinks he's gonna get that kinda money out of that car stateside. Maybe in Japan. When I worked at a trim shop last summer an old man brought in a 1928 DKW P15(DKW eventualy became Audi) to get a new top made for it, he claims it's the only one in the US and one of the few left in the entire world. Looks like this... No idea what it would be worth, even as rare and unique as it is I dont think it would be worth a whole lot. Which goes to show rare doesnt always equal valuable. --- Justin T 72 240Z L28, 5-speed 77 280Z 5-speed (t-boned 8-25-04) 80 280ZX automatic(retired) Answer:
PLus the unfortunate fact that most repair parts would have to be fabricated from scratch. Course that's if you drive it out of its climate controlled hermetically sealed impenetrable garage. 1973 240Z 4 screw SU's, Tokico HP's, Toyota Calipers 1946 Willys-Overland CJ-2A (restoration in progress) 2006 Ural Gear-Up Answer:
