wet spot
Question:

Flickr

I found this wet spot where my car was right after starting it and backing it out. This spot was under the front of the car. I wouldn't expect a wet spot there unless it was a front engined car and the engine shook off some moisture when it cranked. The car had been sitting still for at least four days prior to me starting it.

Any ideas where this liquid came from?
Answer:
OT: I knew someonw who had a boat named "Wet Spot".
Answer:
What kind of liquid was it? Water, oily, did it smell?
Answer:
Did you smell it? Windshield washer reservoir?
Answer:
Uh, I'll put $5 on evaporator.
Answer:
not what I expected when I opened this post
Answer:
Condensed water from AC drain.
Answer:
Did you smell it? Windshield washer reservoir? I couldn't smell it, it's a bad allergy day for me. Isn't that reservoir in the back with the engine?

I also didn't touch it. I had my digital camera with me and didn't want to get any oils or chemicals on the camera.

Looks like water...

I'm deeply disappointed in this thread :-P
Answer:
Condensed water from AC drain.
+1 Get it all the time.
Answer:
The AC condensate drains out a tube near one of the front suspension A-arms - it would be water.

The coolant flows to the radiator and heater in the front and drips could pretty much find their way to any place under the front - it would be slimy feeling on the tips of your finger. In the old days with regular "green" coolant, it would be sweet smelling/tasting - with the modern stuff... You could compare it to the stuff in the coolant reservoir near the engine in the rear (wait until the engine is cool before removing the tank cap).

The oil coolers/lines run to the front corners of the car and across the front below the grill opening - drips from that would be mostly in front of the wheels, and oily to the touch.

But it looks like the water condensate from the AC...
Answer:
Would you expect water condensate from a car that has been sitting for 4 days though?

Maybe if the water was in the drain lines etc. and fell out from moving the car.
Answer:
That happens to me everytime I start the car...although I mines comes out of the exhaust with black soot. I don't know if that help any but just so you know.
Answer:
i'd guess A/c evaporator as well. looks watery
Answer:
Another vote for A/C drain evaporate. I get this all the time at the right front side of the car after I've driven for a prolonged time with the A/C. Sure that's a rare occasion here in Seattle but it always feels just like water - not slippery or colored like oil or coolant.
Answer:
didn't a few people have coolant leaking from this area?
Answer:
coolant would have color
Warm engine rough idle - not immediate
Water in lamps.
