1000 Mile Service - Excellent!
Question:
Just got my car back from the 1000 mile service. Only took me 8 months to log enough miles. Accident and winter weather were the real causes for the long time to service.

Actually, I had 1470 miles on the car, but I figured if it's under 1500, it's alright. Had to wait for the weather to break.

Cost was $270. Included all regular items on this service. I asked for and got a copy of the ECU dump. Also, they repainted/cleaned the rotors to remove some rust build up. Looks really nice now! No charge either.

Highlights of ECU data:
1. No (0) Standing Starts! Believe me, that was a hard one to resist.
2. Max RPM 7324 (I only did it once, I swear)
3. Max Speed 98 MPH

BTW, I had complained about the burning headlight issue, "scars" on the light housings. The dealer called Lotus and got authorization to fix problem by adding the "embellisher rings". Parts are on the way, warranty repair.

Dealer said Lotus is authorizing this ONLY for those owners who complain. Not a full recall. FYI.

Great dealer service, Lotus of Bedford, Ohio. Car was ready in 2 hours.

Anyway, now that I'm done with the service, I can really start to play.

Gotta go drive...

Glad it went well for you. I just had my 1st service done. Not quite as pleasant.

I finally retrieved my 2006 Elise from LoA last week. It went in a little "early" for the first service (800 miles), mainly because it was making some very nasty noises on left turns. Turns out the suspension bolts had not been properly torqued

The car also went in for a winshield replacement (there had been a scratch on it at delivery). That turned out to be a bit more problematic. (My understanding is that LoA, the trucking company and Lotus were in a bit of a tussle over who was going to take responsibility/pay for it, and as a result, nobody had ordered a replacement in the two months since I bought the car, even though I had called and was assured they were 'working on it.'). Anyway, the part finally got ordered, but apparently the replacement of the windshield was something they'd never done before (not to mention that it appears to require the removal of the clam to do it -- 4 hours of labor to get it done, along with subletting to another shop for the windshield replacement!).

Anyway, LoA were pretty decent about it (they waived the cost of the 1K service), though I was without the car for a week and a half, while waiting for the windshield.

Just for the records, it appears that Lotus has not fixed the headlight shield problem at the factory. In fact, there were 3 items on the list:
1. Air Bag Addendum (a piece of paper to go in the manual)
2. TSB 2005/18 Update. Installed tape per bulletin 2005/18 (I think they taped some wires under the dash, but I didn't see them.)
3. Install Headlight Embellisher (per the discussions of the 2005 models).

The car runs fine now -- no more nasty clunking sounds on left turns (though I haven't checked the leaks in the rain yet -- another problem identified).

Oh, plus no ECU dump. Apparently no computer and/or software to print out the information . . .

That's not right!

They have to do the ECU dump to send to Lotus for warranty purposes. At least that is what I was told. I'm surprised a dealer doesn't have the equipment to do this.

My headlight embellisher rings should be in shortly.

Wayne I'm very happy to hear you were so pleased with their service. I plan to go there in a few weeks for my first service.

Well, what I was told was that they had a tool that could look at the codes and display the information (to see if the car had been abused), but that they didn't have any way to download the information and print it out. Could have been BS, but I didn't see any reason for them to fib about it.

There have been comments in other threads that the 06 models use different software/hardware, and that may be the reason.
Answer:
dealers dont have the upgraded 06 scantool software yet, so its quite accurate.

but dont worry the ecu remembers it all for when they do
