A new problem with the Elise
Question:
Are we ready for a class action suit? Should we call NHTSA or DOT first?
Answer:
'touring' wheels
Is there anybody left that I haven't gotten to thwack for that??? Oh man Tim, did you set yourself up for these replies!!! All good too! I expected some humorous comments, but this is far more than I expected. I've been laughing at each new one... Answer:

It was obvious you had an ulterior motive for posting this thread. Maybe you're trying to get sympathy from Lotus, maybe you're about to sue 'em. Do you even own a Lotus? With only 3,800 posts we're beginning to wonder who you really are! Answer:
I have the "touring" set screws on mine. No problems so far.Answer:

Yep he has one.... I had a ride in it right after he got it..... It made MY decision to get Chrome Orange.

Why should we trust YOU??? Answer:
I can't complain. 6000miles. No problems so far. The left front wheel well liner came down. A few screws came out. That's it. Dealer has it waiting for me. My kids and all their friends still can't believe thry are looking at an Elise, even after four months. (Nice car Mr. Hudson) (Thanks)I'm getting use to it. Waiting for the heater to warm up takes forever. At least it's not overheating! Answer:

If I remember, I only had a hundred or so miles on it - couldn't even wind it out. Between the people that came by to see it at the house (or flew in just to see it ), and those that saw it (and tried it on for size) at the British car show last year, I suspect that I greatly increased the demand for Chrome Orange. Another thwacking.

Trust Me !! ( and I would'nt sell it to you if it wasn't worth it ! ) Answer:
Ugh, what a POS. Will you ever be able to drive it again now that it is so untrustworthy?? I mean, I'm sure they towed it for you - and quite a long ways - but I'm sure as you sat there, with the horrible set screw situation, you kept saying 'why did I get this POS Elise'?!? I'd suggest a pic of you pointing at the set screw and giving a big frowny thumbs down. -doma Answer:
It's never the loose screw on the parking break that you have to worry about...it's always the loose nut behind the wheel that scares the $#@ outta the rest of us!
Answer:
After all six of my posts... I'm trading for a Ferrari. Loose screw, the indignity!!!
Answer:
Do they make Loc-tite in Lotus specific colors? I feel a rash of loose screws coming on.

Unfortunately, Loctite only comes in Ardent Red. If you are lucky enough to have a Chrome Orange, like Tims, it won't help. ( Obviously in Tim's case ) Answer:
Be careful not to tell your dealer what you have done! It just might void your warranty. Of course you'll need plastic surgery for the horrible scar you will have on your finger. Maybe Lotus will settle out of court. I'd ask for a whole box of band aids in the settlement as well. Keep us posted. I'm going out to check mine RIGHT NOW!
Answer:
I'm think I'm going to have to sell my Elise. I've become obsessed with fear of that screw coming loose. I'm terrified to be away from home. I have it narrowed down to 2 choices-1. Trade it for a Ferrari and join the Ferrari board or 2. Trade it for a Viper and remain here and be obnoxious Maybe I'll set up a poll after I get home from the grocery store...... Answer:
