Warm engine rough idle - not immediate
Question:
For the first ~200 miles, I experienced the stalling issue (that's OK, NYC drivers are really forgiving ) but that went away. Now I have a rough idle issue. It doesn't matter whether the engine is warm and it doesn't happen immediately. Most commonly, I will be at a stoplight and it will idle acceptably for the first 30 seconds or so, then go into a rough, rhythmic idle. When I reported this at my break-in service, I was told that the engine hadn't thrown any codes, so they didn't know what the problem was. Any ideas? Answer:
Was going to put a TADTM(maam) but Randy doesnt have one yet. it'll clear up by about 700 miles.

...I'm now at over 1500 mi!I mentioned the ECU to the tech, but was dismissed. The tech initially suggested that the problem was that I bought the car in New York and since the flash point of the gas is different up there, etc, etc... then he asked if I had filled up the car recently. I told him that, given that I had about a 10 gallon tank and New York was over a thousand miles away, the NY fuel was probably LONG gone. Answer:
the two fixes for that are the ECU upgrade and setting the throttle quadrant , search the forum for it, lots of threadsfor some people it never goes away, but it usually gets better Answer:
Blonde1,I am assuming you took it to Dimmitt huh? IF so, I was wondering if the same thing would happen IF I bought a car out of state. I figure the service department feels they can give you the runaround if you didn't buy the car from them. RYan Answer:
Are you doing the recommended practice of letting the car idle for about 30 seconds or so before turning off your engine ? This may help if you're not doing it.
Answer:
Mine had problems at first, used to die out all the time. It's gotten better but it still idles pretty rough when I first start it (7800 miles). I did find that it helps a little to steadily rev it up to about 3000 rpms and back down right after I start it, although it absolutely hates it if you try to blip the throttle. Haven't tried any of the fixes or been to the dealer yet as it hasn't become a PITA.

Yup, took it to Dimmitt, but I don't think they were giving me the runaround. I think they just didn't know what to do. As for whether it matters that I got the car out of state, a couple things to ponder: 1. Service can often be more profitable for a dealer than sales and 2. Whether you buy the car there or out of state, they're the only dealer for a few hundred miles, and I'm sure they know that. Water in lamps.
