FS: Stock Clutch
Question:
Just installed a ACT clutch and have my stock one for sale. It has about 2K miles on it. The car serial number is 1725. Best offer takes it.
Sale fell through on this clutch, so it's available again. PM me.
how is your new clutch? drivability wise
Very pleased with the ACT...bought it from Brett. Only downside is the installation which takes about 10 shop hours - about a thousand bucks labor in my area. My skills fall short when it comes to clutch DIY. I've talked to others and they all said 10 hrs is about right. The clutch is very positive and tight. It took me only a day or so to used to the stiffness and throw. I was experiencing slippage with the nitrous engaged...gone now. It comes off the line like a rocket now, and would be even better with LSD. Very pleased with the ACT...bought it from Brett. I think this has to be one of the best mods you can do. I really like it. will this one hold up brett's 280RR s/c? I have the ACT clutch also. I think this has to be one of the best mods you can do. I really like it. I think the ACT is a fine clutch even for the 250 hp to 275 hp guy's, I agree. Don. Is the ACT clutch noticeably firmer? I don't want a calf work out like I used to in my Cobra... Is the ACT clutch noticeably firmer? I don't want a calf work out like I used to in my Cobra... I think it feels normal now. The stock clutch feels a little too soft to me. In any case, the ACT is not stiff. It is more that the engagement is much more there... more abrupt. Thanks, thats probably good - the stock one feels a little rubbery - almost like I wish it was more off/on..more abrupt like you say - just don't want to push down on 50 pounds in traffic. What's wierd is my brother's cars is a much later build date than mine - his clutch feels different/better. Possibly broken in better. Sorry for jackin' your thread Dave! I would be interested if someone could measure the force required to depress a broken in ACT clutch versus a few stock clutches. I also don't want a leg workout in traffic. Hi Chris, you are welcome to test mine out. I really don't think I even notice it anymore than the stock clutch. But then I noticed the stock clutch AND the ACT when doing LA freeways.
