Lotus Sport Windshield banners- group buy
Question:
They are vinyl. I can make them in chrome though. They are individual computer cut letters (some people lie and say LASER cause it sounds much fancier- haha, whatever floats your boat) For an example look at the pics darksol posted above. I don't really care for the metal plate the covers the whole area, but again- to each thier own.
Count me in - I will figure out which colors I want in the morning - and I check with my brother (ssflanker7) he will want one too...
can you do the "sport" part in krypton green?
ugh....I have the pictures i want to show you on my PS2 not 6 ft from this computer but i can't get them on to the flash drive. any ideas? Anyone alse have the ability to get the pics of the motorsport elise in Gran Turismo 4 on this thread? If you haven't seen it. I bet you go... son of a .... Any concerns with outward vision? I can confirm that the answer is: no. I have to use the Tire Rack windshield banner for national auto-x events, and I was initially worried that it might get in the way. It really doesn't. Daddy, a couple of questions: What's the deadline for the group buy? Are the letters on the decal in a straight line when it's lying on a flat surface, or does it somehow compensate for curvature of the windshield? I can't use it on my Elise (see above), but I've been tempted to use some Lotus graphics on my tow vehicle... BTW: I'm using Daddy's license plate Elise sticker (black on yellow car). It's a small item, but I like it a lot. That front license plate attachment area looks like a sore thumb when it's blank. With the sticker on it, it looks like it has a purpose. pic of that somewhere? Found some pics that work on the net. Not as cool as it looks on a black car. I also added a pic of a Phantom Black Exige so that you could imagine exactly what this would look like. Sweet D I'd like it just like this though plain silver is cool too. Maybe you could give me an estimate. And no ET post is complete without..."How much does it weigh?" laters, Is it too late to get in on this? Hey guys, thanks for the great response. Having a hard time keeping up with the e-mails and PM's. Donovan: I can get a color that I believe will be very similar to Krypton green. Not a ton of choices in that part of the color palette, lol, but I think you'll be happy with it. I'll have to order some in, I used the last I had to for a guy's Artic Cat trailer. Cone Fusion: These are in a straight line, it works that way on the Lotus windshield, see DarkSol's pics posted near the top of the thread. But I can make anything you want if you need a curve, etc. PM me with what need. Blue: That doesn't look like a problem at all, I'll send you a PM. Also to see the decal I make for the front plate, again check out DarkSol's pics at the top. dxl700: You can get in on this. I'll run it through Sunday. An above post has the instructions. Please include the note with paypal. Daddy: Thanks for the answers. pic of that somewhere? You mean the license plate sticker I mentioned? I never took pictures to specificially highlight it, but here's a cropped one that shows it reasonably well. The dark spot close to the bottom of the S are probably the remains of a dead bug . Paypal payment sent for 3 banner plus postage. Phill, your banners shipped to Austrailia yesterday. All the others with just a banner have been shipped. Thanks. Those that requested other custom stuff along with order such as race numbers, striping, engine decals, quarter panel decals, etc I'll have out no later than Monday. Thanks guys, the response was phenominal. Anyone that wants in on this, I'll run it through Sunday since I know I'll be making graphics all day long and getting caught up anyway. Bump, still running this through today. Wayne, Charles, Clay, Jack, Mike- Yours will be in the mail tomorrow. A little off topic story for you. As some of you know, response was great and with all the requests for custom stuff, along with my employee at my regular business quitting this week, I ended up a little behind and have spent a lot of late nights up late this week. (what's new?) Don't think I've made it to bed before 2 AM for the past 2 weeks. Well anyway, when it rains, it pours. Literally. I got caught in an absolute Monsoon on the way home on my motorcycle Friday evening. Raining so hard I thought it was hailing (it hurts like a mutha), standing water on the road and everything. Well, fortunatly my new Continental Road Attacks are absolutely awesome in the rain, I had not an issue whatsoever there. Unfortuneately I discovered that my backpack isn't as water resistant as I would of thought, and neither was my new macbook (didn't expect it to be water resistant at all but didn't think any rain would of made it through the backpack). My ipod in the bag, and Nokia phone held up great. I don't think I've had my macbook a month but it wouldn't power on. What a bummer. The good news? After an hour and 40 minute wait to meet with an apple store "genius bar" guy- I'm on my way back this morning where they are going to give me a brand new macbook and help transfer everything over! Wow. That's customer service. And I would not of complained if they didn't. I would not expect "caught in monsoon on motorcycle" to be a warrantyable issue (and am pretty sure it's probably not). And I even told them what happened too. Absolutly awesome. With service like that I think they've got a customer for life. Sorry, but in my experience it's so much more common to get wretched service rather than outstanding service like that. Thanks Apple, for one more postive reinforcement why I was right in making the switch! Sorry that was off topic, I'll post in the off topic forum to not derail this thread. Just a little positive experience that could of been a huge issue when I was already behind on getting some of your orders on these banners out. Just checking on Status for me Nzaizar@aol.com Thanks in advance. Nick Darnit looks like I missed it.. any chance to get some made..no rush for me All banners, numbers, misc items and custom work order from me has been sent out (with the exception of items paid for by checks, and the couple items paid for yesterday) Thanks for the amazing response, and sorry I got a little behind. Please post pics when you get them put on. 1FASTMX5- I'll let you in on it, PM with what you want and how many- and give me some time to make stuff up- I won't be able to make any new orders until early/middle of next week. Ok - what is the secret to installing these things? - My brother got his before mine because Keith had to work a little more to get the krypton color - so we attempted to put his on but we F'ed it all up. Its sticky and stuff... I know its just a sticker and shouldn't be so complicated...but it is. Any advice? Ok - what is the secret to installing these things? I know its just a sticker and shouldn't be so complicated...but it is. Any advice? One thing these stickers take is patience and planning. I put mine on last week and these are my suggestions: 1. I measured the windshield, found the center point and marked it with a piece of tape. Clean the windshield very well first!! 2. I measured the decal, found the center point and marked it with a pencil line. With both lines, I can line up the decal in the center of the windshield. 3. I trimmed all the excess material off the decal so as to minimize the size of the decal I would be handling. Less paper "flopping" around makes it easier to handle. 4. I drew a straight line across the top of the decal, close to the vinyl itself, and then trimmed along that line. Now I have a perfectly straight edge with which to position the decal against the upper windshield frame. 5. I applied the decal while standing on the seats INSIDE the car. I think this is critical to getting it on right. By being inside the car, I was looking down on the windshield and could get everything centered and positioned correctly. I tried to do it from the sides of the car, but my reach wasn't sufficient. 6. I dropped the decal in place very lightly, starting in the middle and moving to either side. It is possible to re-lift the decal if you have to, provided you haven't pushed down on the decal. 7. Once in place, I used a plastic "blade" to push the decal down onto the windshield. Pull off the top layer, resmooth everything with a soft cloth, and it's done. I did have two small "bubbles" in the decal after applying it, but I cut a small slit in each bubble with a razor blade, pushed down and they went away. Total Time: 30 minutes. Hope this helps a little bit. Thanks Keith for the decal, it looks really good. Here are some pics. Wayne Cool. Thanks for the pics. Good explanation on the install. Another thing you can do to help it go easier it to make a "hinge" with masking tape and tape it in place. Then you can lay it in smaller sections. If it's "hinged" at the top, you can cut in between a couple letters, lift the hinge, peel off the wax backing, and then squeegee that portion down. Wash, rinse, repeat until you are finished. On the car outline you can hinge it and lay it left to right or vice versa. The most important step is to clean the surface excessively before starting. Especially if you have ever applied rain x or similar treatments. Rubbing alcohol is great for this. Rotate to a clean part of a lint free rag several times so you just aren't redistributing gunk. One last thing to keep in mind, this is a "pressure sensitive" adhesive. Think about that for a second. Yep, it's sensitive to pressure. The more the better, to "set" the adhesive. Think of it as a microscopic foam and you want to break open the bubbles to release the real glue that is going to make it stick. Do your best to hold the squeegee at an angle (like how a snowplow truck would move snow) to work any air out. Work from top to bottom or left to right to work it all out. If you just make a random swipe you don't want to trap air in. If you get a small bubble, just wait a few days, normally the sun will take care of it. If it doesn't use a fine pin to pop the very edge of the bubble and press the air out, don't rub and stretch the bubble or you are going to make a wrinkle instead of a bubble. Not perfect (the application, not the product) but I like 'em. thanks Keith.
