Has anyone else thought of aluminum for the console and a/c surround?

I'm looking into having new parts made from aluminum. My goal is to have the console blend in to the overall aluminum interior, rather that stand out with paint, leather, or CF.

I talked to a fabricator and he's working up estimates. Rough estimate on full remake is probably $900 to 1,000.
