I dumped my factory installed oil at 500 miles, put in dinosaur oil, lots of little metal shavings from breakin were apparent, dumped that oil at 3000, been running redline synth ever since.



Factory recommends every 3750 miles. 1500 is probably overdoing it a little.

So you get free oil changes for life but you want to use Synthetic and the dealer says to bring the oil in and they will use it. So, what are you getting? Sound like a free oil filter for life along with waiting a hour or more and letting some grease idiot drive you car around.

If I was u, I would do my own oil changes and forget the stealer offer. I wouldn't let the dealer change the air in my fethered tires.



I changed mine at 700, then 3000 then mobil 1 at 6000. Probably will change every 4000 or so.

It sounds like we're voting. I agree, part of the joy of owning a fine sports car is doing what I can to maintain it, which includes oil changes.

BTW, getting it up in the air is easy with several stacked 2x10 boards for ramps. Bond and nail them together, taper the ramps, and it's easy, missing the front end when you drive up onto them.

I sence some ill feelings towards your friendly Nissan dealers hdzcar,1z4u2c & Daddy. As a former Z owner I cant help to chime in. Last time I went in for warranty service, the service guy drove my car without even covering the seat, unless you count that dirty rag sticking out of his back pocket. There are classy dealers around im sure, just the two Nissan dealers near me are slobs. Maybe I will change the oil on a few of my cars, and after crawling around for a while getting real grungy, drive down to thier showroom and propose a test drive, see how they like it.

Just had to add one more thought, If the z is taken to a quick lube lube type of place, check under the car before you leave, make sure they put back the plastic belly pan with all the screws. You just cant trust those guys.

i don't even remove the plastic cover... with the size of the hole its just easier to me to work through the hole...

Mine is every 5000 miles



The night I took delivery (01/03/03) I drove the car to Atlanta and back which handled the break-in. I varied the loads and speeds and when I returned home to D.C. I changed the oil the next morning at 1200 miles w/ Castrol 10W30. The oil has been changed every 2k since and at the ripe old age of 18k I switched to Mobil 1 10W30. The only bitch to the oil change is the 14 10mm bolts which fasten the engine cover to the car. If you like a larger capacity Nissan oil filter be sure to ask for the
15208-9E000 vs. the 15208-65xxx as it's a little bit bigger than the stock one. Just think: would you want some pimply faced oil change tech changing the oil in your baby?
