Question:
How can you compare a Z vs. cars that are 10-35K more?To me does not seem they are comparing cars in the same class. Answer:
Look at the list, these are not everyday, commute cars. Where is Acura NSX? I'd take any of these home. Ranking of cars overall were: 1. Chevy Corvette ($53,545) 2. Porsche Boxster ($67,520) 3. Porsche Carrera S ($91,560) 4. Lotus Elise ($44,460) 5. Honda S2000 ($33,465) 6. Dodge Viper SRT-10 ($84,495) 7. BMW Z4 3.0i ($48,620) 8. Nissan 350Z 35th Anniv. ($38,640) 9. MB SLK350 ($50,150) Answer:
A 350Z with $9000 APS twin turbo (including installation) has over 500 hp at the engine and will go by ALL of these cars so fast it will blister their paint from the shockwave as it goes past. With long term reliability. Put in pauter rods and arias pistions and you can run over 600 hp on pump gas and totally humiliate ALL of these cars. So if you intrinsically love our 350Zs, as I do, there is no reason to suffer from a More Power crisis. If you don't have true feelings for our Zs, then it doesn't really matter much, anyway now does it? What impresses me about APS is the outstanding reliability that they are getting running this kind of power in our 350Zs. Superior tuning and quality and attention to detail. If you can't quite afford the twin turbo, APS has a single turbo coming out in May that will still let you run 500 hp for about $7000 including installation. I bought my my enthusiast Z for just under $30,000. Yes, I know, somebody always will have a faster car even if I do have 500 hp. That's true no matter what you have. But, my Z for about $37,000 dollars including single turbo and install will run right with or beat a Viper. And I love the car to begin with. Sorry, but I don't see any downside. JMHO. No I don't sell APS or profit in anyway, I only lust after the thrill of turbo boost when the red mist rises. And my 350Z, she's a keeper. Oh Lady of Sacred Acceleration, don't fail me now! if they were truely looking for the "All-Around Sports Cars" the 350z should of won because your getting the most for what you pay for. 78 280z Black Pearl 132K miles? could be 232k miles? who knows... "Datsun: We Are Driven" Answer:
Hey spudea...I wanted a 280 Z back in '78, but went with the more practical Datsun B210 to drive to work cause it had a (theoretical) back seat for emergency use. A back seat meant for small kids, small packages, and for adults that you absolutely hate! ha. Don't get me wrong, the B210 was a great little car. But it was not a Z! I had the same delima last year, and at least I did NOT make the same mistake twice. Even a blind pig like me finds an acorn of smarts every once in a while! ha. My redline enthusiast 350Z absolves me of most of my guilt from 1978, sniff sniff. I still keep my old '94 626 around for practical and as a winter beater, anyway. Life is short and this Z car feels just like I like it in curves! Need I say more? And when I get boost in May, all my little evil schemes of sacred acceleration will have come true in the fullness of time, he he. Answer:

true i wouldn't say do anything to your car to beat another but to satisfy your own cravings... true all??? it's simply not worth trying to compete with another's car... the person with the most money will win. cause when you break it down it all comes down to money... --------------------------------------------------------------------- Chrome Silver '03 Touring -MT- C.F. The "Well I can put <insert amount of money here> into a <insert car here> and beat a <insert other car here>" statements are stupid. They're so generic. Put 9K into the Viper or Vette and you'll be owned. Ahhhh. But I did not say that... Re read. I said if you love a 350Z intrinsically, then there is no reason to suffer from a More Power or performance crisis. If that is important to you. Which is very different than suping up a car on an ego trip in order to embarrass other cars. Which is what you sort of imply. And I also said someone will always have a faster car...so your post is both redundant and off the mark as well. And the Vipers or Corvettes cost about twice as much. Peformance for the buck is not an end all, but it is a consideration. And not stupid at all IMO. In other words, I don't want a neon even if you can supe it up and out run a Z. The only thing that is stupid considering both your prior post and mine is...your calling someone stupid, without provocation, that you do not know, is both stupid and rude. And low class generic to give your opinion as if it is fact and say that anyone who disagrees is not only wrong, but also stupid. But people who behave like that are not people that I want to be friends with anyway. So honk on troll. Post Edited (Jan 30, 6:00pm) Answer:
very true more power.... about the neons. the only reason people buy them and civics is a cheap get-around-mobile.. IMO..... costs way too muh to get those to be AT LEAST decently fast ~ 200-250 hp... then you still have the handling issue... worst body lean in any class...i think.... --------------------------------------------------------------------- Chrome Silver '03 Touring -MT- C.F. Im sorry fellas but i have to got with r&t. they know what they are doing. the vette has always been a good buy with the porsche in second place. 76 280Z- Runs strong and being preped for paint Make friends with your FAST. Answer:
Just bought an '05 after reading nothing but rave reviews about the Z. Now I read in R&T about a sluggish engine and mid-corner understeer? What gives? Granted, they are comparing it to top notch and $$$ cars, but I would have thought the Z would at least score high in the handling department. Has the '05 feathering fix created this problem? I personally wouldn't trade the Track model's high speed HP for the regular's fat mid-range torque... Anyone driven a track back to back with a touring/enth/perf/base? 05 Enthusiast Ultra Yellow Answer:
I agree with several of you that have posted that the Honda S2000 would be great car IF if had low end torque. Which is does NOT. I had a '90 HKS stage VI Mitsu Turbo Ecliplse GSX AWD. Not the same as the S2000, but had the same offboost, low rpm low torque issues. I liked the Eclipse, but I love the much better low end torque and much better throttle response of our 350Zs. This is especially true when clipping apexs of curves. It is very satisfying to easily apply torque and power at just the instant you want it with our Z cars. Seems like a small thing, but it is a feeling of the Z car just being in the groove or on rails and just holding the line and applying the power smoother and stronger. Of course our 350Zs have a better suspension as well (compared to my old Ecliplse) which accounts for part of that. I just like the smoothness of the lateral g forces that I can generate with the bigger more torqy Z engine. But I do agree that the S2000 is a cool, nimble car in its own right. Answer:
Yeah, I agree about your understeer comment Maizzze. I really wonder about the 350Z understeer comments that I hear about from lots of sources. They are technically true, BUT. I have absolutely NO problemos balancing that very slight 350Z understeer to neutral or inducing slight power oversteer (which I like) - merely by applying the throttle/power correctly. And this is about the easiest car to do that with that I have owned or driven. I find it very easy to make corrections if I misjudge a curve or have to tighten my line in decreasing radius curves. Maybe my 350Z is just set up handling wise the way I happen to prefer it. And to each, his/her own. In any case, I am very happy with the handling and power response. Most days, I purposely take a slightly longer route to work and back home again in order to take advantage of some terrific S curvy roads and "roller coaster" hills (negative Gs, he he) on some less traveled roads. That is generally the highlight of my work day. If only that damn job didn't cut into my day...A bad day clipping apexes and/or drag racing is better than a good day at work IMO. Except for that certain nurse who looks like Snow White should have looked and has a smile that just lights up the world. Atrial fibrillation big time, whew! Ok, girls/women AND Zs are terrific! I think we can mostly agree on that. Post Edited (Feb 1, 8:15pm) Z33 Emblem Zaino products Zaino ROCKS!
