Wheels And Questions
Question:
So I've seen wheel size options of 15/16s or 16/17s. Based on these numbers I had assumed the stock wheel size for the elise was 15/16s. Now that I need new tires I've started looking at wheels to go with my new tires. I have the touring pack so I guess I have the stock wheels. I've discovered that my wheels are 16/17s, now that I looked at them .

I want BIGGER rims with as little a weight gain as I can find. Anybody know what wheel and tire options I have since I guess I'm looking for 17/18s?
Answer:
never seen 17/18's sold for the elise, but most of the 16/17 combinations are actually substantially lighter than the stock wheels and a little lighter than LSS.
Answer:
Why would you want bigger? Okay, I know plenty of people like the asthetics, but... any OTHER reason?

Answer:
Nope, just the look. Bigger is bad for any other reason.

The wall flex is worse and they would normally weigh more, both would effectivly slow me down. But hey, I like :-)
Answer:
Call or do a search on Forced Fed. They had a 17/17" option.
Answer:
I just saw the 17/17 option... and I did call them and just got voice mail. Now the question is, is there a way to shove 18s in the back?
Answer:
You know...if you lower your car the 17's fill out very nicely. 18's are a little too big visually and you suffer with all that weight, rubbing, and a larger rolling diameter (which makes you even slower).

Answer:
Yes, the 16's and 17's fill the car nicely, especially if you lower the car a little. Think of it this way; on our miniature cars, a 16/17 combo is like a 17/18 combo on a normal sized car. There are a lot of nice/light options out there for after-market wheels; get a forged 16x7 front and a 17x8 rear, this will give you a few more tire options and keeps everthing about where it should be.

Those look like 19s... he also claims they are custom made wheels. Probably heavy as sin. I saw some custom wheels around here that were... well way too ghetto for me.
Answer:
If I have to stick to 16/17s... at least to make this process less painfull, I'm thinking the RAC monolites or the Team Dynamics... I just have no idea about weight difference...

Anybody out there have these... and if so, what do you like/dislike about them?

Those are probably about 20 lbs. I had some Kinesis wheels on a Corvette and they were in that range for 18x11s
Answer:
There are more performance tire options for 17/18" wheels now also.

I do not have these, but I think they would be an excellent choice.
Answer:
Hunting Ridge sells the PIAA in 17/18 combo.

If you're only doing it for looks, then well, go for it....
