Yes, oil related question....?
mini tub? Stupid Question: Billet Shifter? New Track Rims...?
Yes, oil related question....
Ok, so today my Service Engine Oil picture came up on the DIC and kinda weirded me out. I had M1 synthetic put in at around 3.2k miles and now I am at 6.8k miles. The sticker that they put on my windsheild says to change at 6.2k, but quality synthetic is supposed to last for at least twice as much as regular oil. Should I have the oil changed, or is it fine? Could it be that there is no oil pressure? How does the GTO system measure when to change the oil? I know that on MB's, the system measures the viscocity, but I doubt that this is the cast with a GM vehicle. I live in hot FL weather and like to fool around with the car, so this may have an effect... Would it be fine to change the oil in 1-1.5k miles with Amzoil synthetic, or is that too long? Thanks. PS - I did a search, but still had some unaswered ?'s Just reset oil service, turn key 2 on pump gas pedal 3 times reset everytime u change oil. http://www.ls2gto.com/forums/showthread.php?t=130476 Just reset oil service, turn key 2 on pump gas pedal 3 times reset everytime u change oil. http://www.ls2gto.com/forums/showthread.php?t=130476 Ok, thanks. Got that part. So, is 5k-6k miles too much without an oil change on a fairly hard driven car? i think 5k will be a safe limit when driving aggresively i am going 6k between changes but i really dont drive mine hard Every 3K miles dude. You dont have a cheap car so dont be cheap when it comes to oil changes. Every 3K miles dude. You dont have a cheap car so dont be cheap when it comes to oil changes. I bet he owns a oil service station as well...lol 3000 mile oil change intervals are nothing mroe than a marketing gimmick to get people to change their oil more frequently and put money into manufactures and shops pockets. Back in the day under the old style dino oil maybe, using todays modern synthetic oil there is no need to change it every 3000 miles. My car before my GTO was a 2001 Pontiac Formula, I changed that cars oil no sooner than the 4500-5000 mile mark from the time it was new til I traded it in. It never burned oil or used any oil and always had great oil pressure. There have been tons of Blackstone labs oil quality tests that show that todays synthetics can go well beyond 5000 miles and still be able to protect a engine properly. If you have money to throw away then change it every 3000 miles, if not I would go to 5000 miles and quit throwing oil away that is not even half used. oil color is not an indication of a oil used or not used life, all oil turns dark/black after a 1000 miles or so due to blowby from the combustion process making its way into the oil. The bigger worry would be fuel contamination and just general ole ole breakdown. For $20 blackstone labs will even run a test on your oil samples and tell you exactly what condition your oil is in and if they can see any potential problems in your motor. They even mail you the collection kit for free. I don't have to wax my car once a month or change the tires before they're bald either, but I do. I change mine between 3,000 and 4,000 miles because $50 every 4 months or so is a small price to pay for engine insurance. If nothing else, at least make sure your oil level is good and you're not burning any off. Mine doesn't seem to use any oil whatsoever, but lots of people's do. So don't just change it every 5,000 miles and assume you'll still have 6.5qts until you decide to change it again.
mini tub
do they make a kit for the goats? shaaaaweeeeeeet **** THAT :cursin:! haha thanks Wheel to wheel in detroit makes a quarter panel kit. I don't think a minitub would to be beneficial anyway. The problem is the suspension is in the way if you try to go with wider tire. You would have to notch the suspesion () or switch to a SRA. Another option is to widen your quarter panels. A mini-tub would change the first point of contact from the sheet metal to the swing arm. It would be of some benefit when the suspension is being compressed, although I don't know if the cost (if farming the work out) or the time/hassle (if doing it yourself) is worth it.
Stupid Question: Billet Shifter
Are they in stock at the only dealer here in the states? I thought I saw something saying that they were not and I am getting ready to buy. Any help is cool. They told me they have them in stock, I ordered one monday and its on its way as of now, so they should still have some, drop them an email if you want to know for sure I got mine ASAP after I ordered it, great service! Why post here, maybe try contacting the vendor direct? Rallysport Direct do have them in stock ready to ship immediately. Get in contact with them directly via sales@rallysportdirect.com and they'll be more than happy to assist you :) I haven't followed the posts that closely but is there a threaded shifter nob option for this? I am switching because my stocker is rattling like crazy and I will be in there replacing the clutch anyways. cheers
New Track Rims...
Ok I got these off ebay and you wont believe the price. They are brand new 18x8. I paid 288 for the rims and 160 shipped. Now the center plugs are taken out because I road race the car and dont want them falling out while running. Not bad for the price. Hated running the 17's at the track. not a bad deal look pretty good on your goat not a bad deal look pretty good on your goat Thanks!!! Not a big fan of Black on Red but it works...... especailly for the price and the quailty is great. You got them from the same seller I got mine from! I submitted an offer though and got them for my offered. Actually well below what you paid. Thanks!!! Not a big fan of Black on Red but it works...... especailly for the price and the quailty is great. lol , isnt your stripe black too though ? what company makes them ? Weight? if i remeber correctly, they are pretty heavy. for that price though, who cares! Weight? The weight is about the same as the factory 17's. what company makes them ? The maker is VSR. The funny thing about them is that the center sticker isnt installed when I got them. They had a porsche insert on them. That looks badass. You got them from the same seller I got mine from! I submitted an offer though and got them for my offered. Actually well below what you paid. He wasnt offering best offers on them. Plus I was torn between this set and another AZA set. But since I needed the rims ASAP I figured whats a few bucks. The weight is about the same as the factory 17's. So ~28 lbs for 18x8s? not bad deal I just Order me a set yesterday and I was wondering did the stock 18 Tires fit those rims. I just Order me a set yesterday and I was wondering did the stock 18 Tires fit those rims. the stock tires will fit fine but the 245s are better. Some issues with the wheels so everyone knows, the chrome screws come out easy when they get wet. I rececommand that you glue the screws in if you plan on keeping them. They are plastic and are only snapped in. I just took all of mine out. Since I dont want them to go all over the race track and screw up anyone tires. Ok, don't take this the wrong way, but why are you only running 8" wide wheels? You're car looks great but if you are serious about tracking the car, you can fit a 9" wide wheel on all 4 corners (unless you are running a class that won't let you). Even the 245's on a 9" wheel should feel much nicer. Either way, car looks great with the black wheels! You can get those same wheels for $525 on ebay and there 19s. I would have Recommonded that the saler send me some glue with it...
