Tri Star Tiger shark cam package.Pacesetters,430.17whp!

Just got back from georgia!!!First off I must say rob,and robert at tri star are two of the friendliest, smartest, car guys I have ever met..I drove from Maryland to georgia to get there tiger shark cam package, pacesetter coated longtubes, gmm shifter, and there centerforce clutch package..These guys exceded every possible expectation I could have had,It's rare you meet people in this industry that really do it for the love of the cars,I am honestly at a loss for words,I am that freaking impressed!!!!Even took a significant amount of time to help me understand HP Tuners, which I will soon be purchasing.Rob truly fine tuned my car,None of that just WOT tuning,he spent hours just road tuning and getting every spec absolutley perfect all while teaching me how to do it myself! Not to mention the fact that it was an absolutley unreal bargin for everything that I got! So,service, quality, and the best price?!?I didnt know that was possible?lol..
After 6 runs, car was full hot,and pulled 430.17 hp,402.95 tq.I will post the sheets once I can scan them. Those numbers were with there tiger shark cam package,k&n filter, pacesetter coated longtubes, catless mids, stock cat back, and tuning..On top of that the power curves are smooth as glass, due to the detail in the tuning. My car is just as comfortable, reliable, and easy to drive as stock, with a shit load more ass!!!!!!!!Not to mention better gas mileage. Also there centerforce clutch package is wonderful, close to stock feel, great engagement, very smooth, grips like crazy!Oh,and these numbers were with the car running around 12.8 air/fuel,which is VERY safe, could have done better but I wanted a really conservative safe tune.
Ahhhhh, the pacesetters!!!First off the headers fit absolutley perfect with more clearance in all the key areas, which made it "the easiest header install yet";)Not to mention they are fully welded as opposed to just spot welds where the tubes connect to the flange, really nice fit and finish and thats not just me talking..Also the midpipes, perfect fit,one piece, took 5 minutes to attach. These headers are a really quality piece, for a very fair price!
Basically this whole thing, was probably the best experience I have ever had, purchasing a product and service from a company. If everything else in life went this smooth, there would be world peace instantly!!I am just freaking estatic,I was real nervous driving all the way to georgia having no idea what I was in for.Pleased doeasnt even do it justice:)
Next step,L92!!!!!!!!!!
lucky bastard
Woody,
Thanks very much for making the long drive down here. We love having the customer involved in their build, it make it more fun for all of us.
Here is your sheet.
Have fun! :gears:
Rob
Very nice gains!
congrats dude... you'll never meet such a great group of people. Thats why I've been doing business with them since day 1.
you got 430 with a cam . LT's and a tune?
Can you be specific on mods.
Those guys are probably the best down to earth mechanics I have met as well. They take you in like they have always known you and treat everyone respectfully. There is a lot of us that do buisness with them for this reason. Awesome numbers with a conservative tune. That setup should suprise somebody on the street or at the track. They won't know what happened! LOL! Enjoy.
Can you be specific on mods.
He received this package
Tiger Shark Cam package
coupled with a K&N intake kit, and Pacesetter coated longtubes with uncatted midpipes.
Very, very nice!!! Both HP and torque curves are impressive....looks like your car is a beast after 4000 rpms. Congrats!!!!!!!
nice gains, is that a cam from ED by any chance??, that dive down in the middle looks very familiar, can't deny he makes Ford 4V cam profiles :)
Congrats. Couldn't agree more about Robert and Rob. The shop is incredible-totally OT but the freakin bathroom looks like something off HGTV. Great people-great shop.

How about we bring something up from 6 months ago... that is the first thing I thought as well. Next time I go I am going to put gear lube on the walls or something, they need some dirt in there, or at least a couple Maxims.
This thread was months ago??I dont know how it got back to the top?
I replied to the comment about the Martha Stewart bathrooms that they have there and brought it back up to the top.
Wow I only made 22 more rwhp and 13 more rwtq with a set of heads? Whats going on here?
If you don't mind, cam specs? I bet yours is more aggressive than mine, and with a good set of L92s (mine are stock) you'd be making some real badass power. How do you like it so far?
haha, yea them some bad ass bathrooms! As far as the cam,it is amazing! They actually keep the specs secret I dont even have them:(With heads, and and intake I've been told should be around 490,then possibly electric water pump might see 500:)Other option is a procharger ontop of this cam which is what I really want, price is the problem though...I need to update my track times, got a 12.4 the other day 2.060 sixty ft.115 trap,on my stock 17"s with stock tires.,50 degree weather.I have been in other cam cars, and the drivability, and cost, and power of this package to me,are unbeatable!
M6 or A4?
Nevermind, I just saw you signature.
NYTiger, those are some amazing times bro!Congrats!Makes me wish I had gotten an auto sometimes, but I should be ok once I get some drag radials..
how much did this all run?
Clutch was like 800 installed, cam was 1800 installed with all accessories, pacesetterheaders were whatever there listed as on there sites dont remember.I did the clutch cause I knew I was doin a power adder later. You dont necessarily have to but with the power I have with just the cam I dont see the stock wimpy clutch holding up.Point is if you want anything done to your gto,you absolutley have to go to tri-star!I know it's a long ride, but I drove from MD and couldnt be happier. Some guys want 2500 for a cam with double roller timing chain and hardened pushrods and underdrive installed..If i can get a better quality proven product for less money with master installers, then screw it...Rode trip time!As soon as my account fills back up,you can bet I'll be driving back to georgia for more!Just my opinion:)
I am getting the Tiger Shark package on Friday, I will let you guys know what I think, should be a quick car on a stalled auto. Tri-star also did my headers and stall and tune and that got me into the 12s, I am praying for 11s with a better 60' and the cam.
Dude,I'd almost bet one of my many wives on your quest for the 11's...Would have to be the chubby one though! In all seriousness though with your setup I think it's quite realistic:)
100+ with a cam, lt's and a tune????? That seems optomistic, what did your car dyno stock on their dyno?
1 Attachment(s) 100+ with a cam, lt's and a tune????? That seems optomistic, what did your car dyno stock on their dyno? It's doable. TriStar Performance got me a custom cam package installed with a SLP UD Pulley, and I went from 365 rwhp to 435 rwhp. The uncorrected numbers were close to 450.

~ 70 rwhp / 45 rwtq gain with a heavier LS7 Clutch and a Cam Package .... not too shaby IMO

I started out at 318/320 (05 A4) and did headers/stall and tune and ended up at 359/357 and I hope to be around 415/390 with the cam. PBandK has been 11.6 with the same basic setup plus L92/l76, it will be interesting to see what I can get up to.
100+ with a cam, lt's and a tune????? That seems optomistic, what did your car dyno stock on their dyno? It's not.
My car stock 318rwhp-best pull after was 451rwhp-a pickup of 133rwhp.
Granted I have a "heads and cam" car-but best guess is the L92/L76 top end is worth between 30-40rwhp.
I need suspension help, Pedders guys, Mike from DMS, anyone?

I have an 04 with little under 23k miles on my car and I am getting a creaking sound coming from my front, passenger side wheel well. I hear it when i'm going about 5-15 mph when just rolling and when i'm either not moving (if I turn the steering wheel) or moving slowly (over any bumps), and breaking (when moving slowly). And when turning and reversing the creaking sound is different. It's more rigid. I kinda had this very slightly for the last 6 months. I took the car to the dealer and they said that it could be the hub bearing, so I replaced it last week. I drove from here to Orlando and back over the holiday and it's gotten worse. I don't think the guys at the dealer have any idea what's really wrong. I have 18's from AZA on my car and I no longer have my stockers. They want me to put my stockers on...
I have the Pedders street 1 that I still need to install and some other goodies but not any struts for the front end. I am close to Miami and Fort Lauderdale. I have the GM extended warrantee. Will the dealer even cover this?
They did not cover my hub bearing replacement. :damnyou:
Can anyone please point me in the right direction?
Check your springs where they meet the strut, look for rub marks on them, there is a TSB for creaking springs and the repair is to remove the springs, and rotate them upside down.
I'll see if i can find a number, might be a bit
Thanks Rob. When I install my 0" drop Pedders springs, will that stop that problem? Also what's your take on the creaking while turing and is it safe to drive?
The front radius rod bushes on the shelf in your garage will clear a lot of that up I bet.
tough to say, how far are you from Precision Motorsports?
It's a tough call over the net, it cold be something harmless, but i'd hate to be wrong and cause you problems.
They are about 4-5 hours away.
Take the drive and bring your bits with you. Bob and Colt are first rate.
Would the springs also be responsible for that same sort of sound while turning and breaking?
there are a hole lot of things that can cause noises in the front end. I If you have GMPP major guard, they should have covered the front hub assembly. that is a covered part for sure.
there is a fairly common bulletin on small movements, and having coil spring contact, creating noises. You can actually see the contact marks on the 2 to the bottom coil if I remember correctly.
Strut bushes and bearings can create noises. If the probelm is related to a OEM suspension and you do have major guard, then it should be covered. But they need to find it. Has anyone inspected the suspension for you?
Did you lubricate correctly the front radius rod bushes?

Thanks guys.
I took the wheel off and I didn't see any rubbing. The dealer and one of my buddies inspected the car seperately. The dealer said to start with the hub, at that time my buddy said that the hub bearing was bad also. I let the dealer perform service on the car and they said that they lubricated the suspension... But I don't think i'll take my car back there again. I'm hoping that my Pedders upgrades will take care of that problem. Should I be weary of driving with that sound still present? I think i'll get my Pedders stuff put on by mid Jan.
Thanks guys.

Thanks Mike.
The noise was coming from a loose control arm. I found out that my front struts are also dead with only 23k miles on them.

How did your control arm come loose? I have no idea, but it might be from riding a curb.
w00t... Got BS3 today!

Well I ordered Big Stuff 3 and a RacePak digital dash about a week and a half ago from Wheel 2 Wheel Powertrain. I got it all in today and it looks like its going to be a bit of a chore to install this harness! I guess I need to get the Intercooler and radiators mounted up along with all of the accessories so I can start running the wires for BS3!
Im pretty pumped about going this route... I just hope it pays off because it certainly was not cheap!!!
I will get some pictures up later!
Its a easy install. To bad your building a race car and not a street car :)
Delivery reliability?

I am waiting on my corsa sport from maryland speed being delivered through fedex ground. The tracking number states that it has been on the truck since saturday and is "scheduled" for delivery today. How reliable is this? The mail guy up the road said fedex ground does not guarantee a delivery time or date, because the drivers are contracted out and can hang the keys up for the day whenever they feel like it, even if there are still packages on board.

"Pretty good ole' good one"

"Pretty good ole' good one" Haha....:) Thx man. That was a buddy of mine that said that. He's a trip. The Corsa Sport is a great exhaust system. Great sound, great fitment. I have nothing bad to say about it. It comes with a high price tag, but you get what you pay for.

And the Corsa definitely sounds sexy.

It would be stupid to leave deliveries on his truck. That means more work for him/her tomorrow. It might be delivered later in the day but it will be delivered.
Congrats.....

FDX GND is terrible. :D
It was delivered Chris. I know was just giving a poste haste reason why they would be here today...hahaha...:bubbrub
We use UPS for anything that ships from our warehouse...but often we will pull things from a supplier who is closer (even if we have it in stock) to get you the item quicker. Many of the big suppliers are moving to Fed Ex Ground because it is cheaper than UPS...unfortunatly, it is a case of you get what you pay for. That being said..we work hard to make everything go UPS that we possibly can.

UPS loves me and my large account. I can send a request for them to renegotiate my rates for more savings at 3 AM, and they have a rep at my door by 1 pm next day with a new contract. Guess thats what happens when you have one of the largest shipping accounts in a big industrial park:)

Back and forth and back and forth...lol.
Honestly...it seems we(FedEx) are playing the market share game at the cost of profit(on some accounts) more than we should. Higher ups are starting to emphasize one off higher yield shipments right now.
Have you talked with a FedEx sales rep? I'd imagine if you ship enough(which I'm sure you do) they'd be willing to cut you a deal...
Chris
I know they would cut me a deal..but at what cost in service. My UPS driver shows up every time the same day, and is reliable enough to set the clock by. In almost 5 years of shipping 1,000's of packages UPS, I have had to file less than 15 claims for lost packages. Also, if there is a problem with something on the truck...they can send the driver a message and get it fixed in real time.
While we do not ship Fed Ex Ground we do have some packages that come in through them..and it is enough to tell me I will never use them. First off I cannot beleive that someone thinks it is efficiant to run a shipping company as three seperate companys (Fed Ex Express, Fed Ex Ground, and Fed Ex Home Delivery). UPS's integrated system works much better and from what I have seen is more efficiant. Also, the driver being a contractor and owning his own truck sucks. It gives them too much independence, and not enough accounatability. Our Fed Ex driver shows up in a budget rent a truck (with a Fed Ex Ground sticker on the side), at either 11am or 6 pm, or anywhere in between. He comes in 3-5 times a week, yet still has to ask me what my last name is every time..
Also, everytime I have had an issue with a Fed Ex shipment that was on a truck for delivery...the call center has told me they have no way of contacting the driver..and the issues will not be fixed untill the next day.
