Race Mesh ?
Where can you buy race mesh in bulk ? I'de like to get the woven type. dont know about bulk but autozone carries race mesh that is really easy to work with. they sell it in about 1.5ft by 3ft sheets. pm sent with some info pm sent with some info Good info! If possible I'd like some info as well... www.customcargrilles.com Hope that helps. It helped me. www.customcargrilles.com Hope that helps. It helped me. Looks like they sell expanded metal, not real woven mesh. Looks like they sell expanded metal, not real woven mesh. They have woven stainless mesh. Look again, they also carry the stuff you need to install it. They have woven stainless mesh. I cant remember if I thanked you in the PM or not but thanks again. Or home depot sells plastic and metal mesh for gutters. Just ask for the "gutter guard" section and you should see what I mean. It might not work for your application, but at least it'll give you some ideas or prices to start from. Link
Camquest Free Software --
I have been looking at different cam specs for months, and I always wanna know what the end result would be... well this will run every cam possible that Comp has, plus allow custom grinds, and give you estimated results, that are very accurate... http://www.compcams.com/Camquest/default.asp the software is free.. and its awesome... this is a screenshot How did you get it for free, I paid $26 for it................. I plugged my combo in the program and the numbers matched what I'm making now and before the supercharger fairly close. Seems to be a good decision making tool. Awesome thanks Thanks very much for this mate. I'll have to have a play around with some numbers now. Cheers, Macca Thanks for the url!......:) It's really fun to make changes and see how they affect the numbers. I'm wondering what others think about the accuracy of this program. Seems like there's not a lot of difference from cam to cam, while other things like ported heads and.......ahem..........*the fast intake*, have more of an effect. Also, I did not see as much of a difference as I was expecting between the LS1 and the LS2. If anything, the program showed me that a "big dick" cam is not necessarily the right choice. Could someone explain "total induction airflow" to me(what number goes in there for LS1/LS6, LS2, and FAST)? great, i'm downloading the software  total induction airflow is how mcuh air you can pull into the motor your TB and intake manifold are going to be th primary restrictors, then the heads. thanks for posting this! noice! I agree it seems the big cams are a waste?Looks like the 224-228 cam works very well for an A4 w/a 3000 stall and a fast intake. It made the most power and best tq curve of all the cams tested on a stock headed LS2. Yes, if you cant get the air in there (up to the valves) to begin with, cam size is not relevant. open up the intake and heads, and its a different world. This program is definitely not for a novice, hahaha! :eek2:  I kept ading cfm to my custom heads and it still didnt like the bigger cams?I dont know if this is very accurate, but that was on a 364CI...I didnt check to see if it mattered on larger engines,I would think it would? Could someone explain "total induction airflow" to me(what number goes in there for LS1/LS6, LS2, and FAST)? Use 750 CFM for the Stock LS1/LS6 Composite intake I have noticed that the best I can hope for with the LS1 is about 420 HP Max with the stock intakes, the only thing I don't like about it is, they don't have the CAI options and Stock Manifolds without cats... So I had to use Small tube headers w/o cats :( +1000000000000000:eek2: Here is the help video guys! http://www.compcams.com/Camquest/Cam...ing640_480.wmv Pretty easy if u ask me,I went back and looked and sure enough as u increase cfm, bore and stroke it likes the bigger cams.... Still funny how it picks the 224-230 581-588 114+2 as the best LS2 cam only using 3200 stall....I have always believed u dont need these rediculous cams that everyone is using... I think the small headers are like a shorty so u are close... The Fast intake really wakes up the setup... I guess u could add 30 to 50 extra cfm to the tb to imply u have a cai? I kept ading cfm to my custom heads and it still didnt like the bigger cams?I dont know if this is very accurate, but that was on a 364CI...I didnt check to see if it mattered on larger engines,I would think it would? Well, this is a pretty basic tool. I tried to put in the specs for my 427, and it laughed at me. Wont give any hp/tq estimates, and the cam isnt even close to what Ed ground for me. It is however close to what I'd caclulated id need, which is also less than what I got. I like Ed's cam better once I ran the numbers. Even bumping your head flow, unless you change the intake to a single or dual plane high flow, you still cant feed a huge cam. Even if you throw more displacement at it, it wont move things much. The Intake manifold is honest to god your biggest restriction. The 750 CFM flow the program reccomends for the stock plastic long runner manifolds is about right. Compared to the 1200+ CFM flow of a single plane GMPP L92 carb manifold. Thats a pretty huge difference. And in my testing, that intake maxed the flowbench, and still had room to breathe. Both were open flow tests, feeding all 8 ports. stock LS2 was ~740 CFM, IIRC, the L92 carb manifold was flowing at 1200 CFM when it said out of range. I didnt have another range to go to. Yea I was just meesing with intakes and saw the same thing and also saw th bigger cubes like more cam which is obvious..Wow the LS2 is that bad huh, even with porting its probably not even 800CFM... I think I'm gonna run a FAST or the new Starr down the road over my ported LS2 but I still cant decide on which setup to run,H/C,FI or Cam only? In all honesty, somebody needs to make a kit for a spider (carb style) intake swap. The parts are out there, for all the heads we have. L92/LS3,Ls7, and LS1/6/2. Edelbrock had new cast Al intake elbows that let you run a 90mm TB on a carb manifold at SEMA. And they are priced dirt cheap. Some enterprising vendor needs to put together a full bolton kit of the intake, rails, fuel lines, elbow and vacuum fittings/lines for the PCV and brake booster, as well as EVAP. If they don't, I will when i finish my testing. Its comming..... But truely only needed for u big cube guys... Small cubes can benefit from the increased efficiency. Better flowing intakes mean less restriction, which means less effort to fill the cylinders, plus the possibilility of better mixture motion. I dont think u would pick up much over a FAST on the smaller engines unless u revved it higher, then the spider type intake would make more power. I for one dont like revver engines,I know they have there place but I'm into power under the curve as its more fun to drive a car that glues your eyeballs to your skull ;) I think the small headers are like a shorty so u are close... The Fast intake really wakes up the setup... I guess u could add 30 to 50 extra cfm to the tb to imply u have a cai? You can put any CFM in there you want.. just type it in like 750cfm and it will take it... I believe the stock setup should be 750 CFM on the intake this cant be true. a 212/218 554/563 on a 115 is the ideal cam for me? damn. 387.7@5500/387@5000. the R's seem low to me. this cant be true. a 212/218 554/563 on a 115 is the ideal cam for me? damn. 387.7@5500/387@5000. the R's seem low to me. Sure you didn't put in something like Dodge 318 instead of ellis juan? no, LS1 with 10:1CR, 2.020/1.600valves, LS1/6 intake flowing 750. Ok, this is really gettin on my nerves...I'm a computer tech and I can't figure out wtf this program is doing. Even after entering all the data for the induction section (I've tried FAST, LS1/6, LS1/6 with boost, all kinds of stuff) it absolutely will not go to green (complete) even though I've entered all the information in there, and since it's not complete it won't run an engine simulation with the different cams (even though its recommending way smaller than my 402 is getting). I've reinstalled twice, still the same problem. Ugh.

I tryed to PM you, but it gave me some message saying you disabled your private messages.... I recieved your service manual dvd, but ive tried to get it to work on 2 computers so far. didnt drop enough.
i just installed the Pedders 1" front and 1 1/4" rear springs, coupled with drag bags. im hoping this car drops a little more, because it isnt quite low enough for me. lame pics, taken at early evening. opinions or thoughts? not a bit of rub. with any more than 5PSI in the bags, the rear comes up. i did not roll the rear fenders or cut them. i have yet to install the 5403 rear eccentrics, or adjust the alignment, just a toe set. ill realign it proper on saturday. i did install them with the stock upper mounts, and stock struts/shocks. i did not cut the front bump stops, but i did cut the rears for the bags. Holy swirls batman! Anyways, the rear looks about right, but the front isnt as low as it should be. Are these brand new? Eiter way, they should settle a bit.... they came off the MTI goat, i bought them from St.Mary. and yeah, those swirls upset me. i had the fenders shot again because the metallic wasnt matched to my liking, and the guy that put the final buff micro-marred the trunk, burnt the clear on the passenger fender, and swirled everything else. its going back in monday. maybe i installed the springs upside down? the spring is progressive, so i put the tighter coils on the bottom. maybe thats why. other than that, i dont know why it didnt lower more. they came off the MTI goat, i bought them from St.Mary. and yeah, those swirls upset me. i had the fenders shot again because the metallic wasnt matched to my liking, and the guy that put the final buff micro-marred the trunk, burnt the clear on the passenger fender, and swirled everything else. its going back in monday. maybe i installed the springs upside down? the spring is progressive, so i put the tighter coils on the bottom. maybe thats why. other than that, i dont know why it didnt lower more. I am no expert, but I would wait to see if they would settle more. Otherwise, do a search on the intallation lingo or wait for the "pros" to chime in. Edit - I coulda sworn the MTI car was on 1"f/.5"r Drag bags will definitely keep your rear-end up in the air. And you're not supposed to keep less than 5psi in them. I have to keep mine around 15lbs to keep the fenders off the rear tires since I'm running 19" 275s and my fenders aren't rolled. My car sits up a lot higher in the rear than any GTO I've seen. But I like the 'old school, muscle car' raked look. I wouldn't think you'd want drag bags at all if you were wanting to go lower. JMHO. Drag bags will definitely keep your rear-end up in the air. JMHO. i just wanted the easy ability to up the rear if i needed, and to help at the track. the rear looks okay to me, i thought it would tuck some, but it didnt. the front didnt drop as far as i thought, either. im wondering if i did something wrong. with 5psi, it doesnt raise the rear, but any more and it does. ill go deflate them tomorrow and see if the springs settle more. its more the front that im curious about. judging from this picture i found of someone else's install, i installed my springs upside down. You need some nice wheels to compliment the drop. Your opinion will change after that. Some nice Drift R's in a silver would look nice. Front 1" drop Sitting down about 1/2" to 5/8" from stock with coilovers and stock wheels. Dropped a little more with the RUFF's. I'll take a pic later. But it changed the looks without changing the hight. Sorry about the pic. It was actually for my SAP skirts. does it matter if i installed them upside down? what would be the difference? I don't think so. GM says to turn the coils over if getting a funny crunching sound. They never changed hight when the flip was made. I highly doubt your hight woudl move at all. I don't think so. GM says to turn the coils over if getting a funny crunching sound. They never changed hight when the flip was made. I highly doubt your hight woudl move at all. the only reason i ask is that these Pedders springs are heavily progressive. the car is noticeably more bouncy. Doesn't look like the pedders' low drop springs to me. The drop isn't controlled by that. The dampening affect and ride quality will be affected by it though. how many fingers can you fit between the top of the tire and fender? Also, go to a Pedders site and it should give you the measurements on where you should be at. I am not sure if you installed them upside down or not, but if it pops or anything, switch them around. well, i investigated, and i am upset. 1.) I am not sure if you installed them upside down or not, but if it pops or anything, switch them around. one finger, slightly at an angle. ill go pic it real quick. Well that sucks man! The finger deal is the same as my S Tech's, just a tad less than a finger gap. i just checked it again, its less than a finger. i have to put it in at an angle. i cant read the tag on the rear springs with the jankey screen light on my cell phone. the rear is about the same, one is slightly higher than the other, but thats probably an air setting. IMO, thats right where i want the front to be. It will settle in a bit more, but thats perfect for me. Tighter Coils go up top. It really is not a big deal if they are on upside down. The ride difference will be almost unnoticable. How do I know this.... Because I installed mine upside down too. What were the part numbers you installed what is the ride heights in mm and what size rims don't be to worried about installing the springs upside down, just leave them they will be fine. Though you should think about installing Struts and mounts, lowering it with OE struts can cause issues.
Keep my wheels or go with TSW?? Opinions
I really like my VZ wheels. Should I keep them or go with some TSW Thruxtons? Opinions needed cause I'm really can't decide which I like best. Keep Them!!!!!! TSW or Beyern's staggered! I agree keep them. I personally dont like either but I definately dont like the TSW thruxtons. They look to "spindley" for the car IMO. I suggest Beyern 5's myself. I would keep the wheels you have...they look good. your car looks great as is. If you want to fit some bigger tires in the rear, go with the TSWs. Keep the VZs I'd keep the stockers if the alternative was thruxtons. I'm not crazy about fake rivets. either paint those or go with TSW Thruxton...If you paint those satin black, they might look great If you want it to look really good, take off the spoiler and get a 1/2" drop. If you want it to look really good, take off the spoiler and get a 1/2" drop. ++1 I really like my VZ wheels. Should I keep them or go with some TSW Thruxtons? Opinions needed cause I'm really can't decide which I like best. I like the Thruxtons, obviously, but yur car looks awesome with those wheels. My vote would be for keeping them; Keep the VZs! If you want it to look really good, take off the spoiler and get a 1/2" drop. Thanks guys, keep the opinions coming. I've been thinking about this for a while and just can't decide. I wish we could make POLL threads here. Do you think a 1/2" drop in the back and front would make a huge difference in the stance or should it be more in the front? I don't want the back looking squated. I want a balanced look but not where part of the tires are covered up. IMO that's not a look I like. It sits pretty low now. How does lowering affect the ride of the car, is it much rougher of a ride? Anyone have pics of their GTO that has been lowered 1/2"? i think those VZ's look great on your car... granted, they'd look better on mine... :judge: Keep the VZs. If you want to make a poll, you can do it in the regional sections. TSW or Beyern's staggered! +2..But im biased, not a big fan of the VZ'S:dunno: either paint those or go with TSW Thruxton...If you paint those satin black, they might look great No thanks as far as getting the VZ's painted black. IMO that would look pretty crappy. i think those VZ's look great on your car... granted, they'd look better on mine... :judge: Thanks schufflerbot. I do really like them and get loads of compliments on them but I'm always trying to think of a wheel that might look even better. I think the TSW Thruxtons look good but I don't know if they would look as good as the VZ's I already have. Keep Them!!!!!! + 1,000,000!!!!! Keep them. They look tuff. Thruxtons on Torrid do look great... ...I dunno, it's a toss-up changing from the VZ's though. keep them "BRO"! no rubbing, no vibration, just a little to plain in the back. i like meat with my potatoes lol. I like the one's you have but ditch the spoiler and get the monaro taillights. Mike They're cool until you look at the back of the car. chrome 'em!! They're cool until you look at the back of the car. Why? Because of the 245 tires or because of the spoiler? I get many compliments on myThruxtons shown inthe above pics. It really just boils down to your own personal choice.
