I just got my K&N kit for $229. Must say these guys are the cheapest around. I'm pretty sure Amazon can't help you if you have an issue with your install. A $20(Shipping included) difference isn't that big of a deal JMHO!
Come on guys, you need help with installing a CAI kit? Internet anyone?
Anyway, how about you sell me a Volant for WAY below what they will warranty and I sign saying I dont care? :)
Come on guys, you need help with installing a CAI kit? Internet anyone? Not that I really think anyone would need help with an install but you can call someone that knows what the heck your talking about it you did have issues.:D
Purchased my volant today as well. If you could do anything you can to expedite the shipping so I can install it before my 7000 mile road trip that would be awesome.
Not that I really think anyone would need help with an install but you can call someone that knows what the heck your talking about it you did have issues.:D You dont think Amazon has GTO experienced techs waiting by phones to eagerly answer installation issues?:gr_jest:
No? Me either.
Anyone have any expierence with the lingenfelter CAI??? Just wondering if you get anything extra for that extra 100 bucks ( not saying its worth it just wondering if there is anything different ) Plus I think the lingenfelter name sounds cooler than volantm aem and k&n LOL JK to tha max Thanks for your opinions in advance.
~Patrick~
I went with the Lingenfelter CAI, it re-uses the stock hose but seems to work well, not sure I'd say it's worth the extra money or not, but it performs well and the box seals well against the hood once both are adjusted properly.
Do you guys happen to carry the cleaning kit for the AEM (two bottles of solution)?
Should be ordering the Volant soon. :)
Bump!
RRRR got my KN cai for 330 six months ago, I should have held out!
I will have to see how my finances look but I plan on picking up a volant.
Memorial Day Bump!
Bump!
is there enough difference in these to justify spending the extra $ on the volant or aem?
Will the Volant work on an 04 ?
Ya whats the whole diff besides the AEM doest need oil? Is one better then other?
Hi all
i want to Get one iff VOLANT system for my GTO so any one hel be and till me how can i get one and if you can ship it to the Kuwait or not
is there enough difference in these to justify spending the extra $ on the volant or aem? I love the Volant and have it on my car. It has a full airbox, which looks cool, and keeps hot air away from the intake. Probaly does not put any more power to the ground in all honestly...but should help with temps.
Will the Volant work on an 04 ? This requires very serious modification...It has been done...but you have to hack the airbox to hell.
Ya whats the whole diff besides the AEM doest need oil? Is one better then other? AEM does not need oil...but I am against metal intakes.
Hi all
i want to Get one iff VOLANT system for my GTO so any one hel be and till me how can i get one and if you can ship it to the Kuwait or not We do not ship internationally...sorry.
what's the difference between the K&N aircharger and FIPK?
FIPK has a CARB#...otherwise they are the same intake. The FIPK actually replaced the Aircharger...so if you order an Aircharger, you get an FIPK instead. I keep both on the site because most people do not know the difference.
We just got a bunch more Volants in stock!
what's the difference between the K&N aircharger and FIPK?
Problem installing Corsa Exhaust

ok. so i bought a used corsa exhaust from a guy at the dealership where i bought the car. he said its off an 05 gto. mines an 06. should be no difference right? well he welded everything on this exhaust. so when i went to install it, the part you have to bolt onto the converters, doesnt match up. 1st i had to cut the weld, turn that part 180, and weld it back on. its almost lined up, but still wont work. any ideas? except for maybe cutting the pipe off the stock exhaust and welding it to the new one i dont know
So you are having trouble lining the bolts up on the flange? The pipes after the cat which bolts to the Corsa x-pipe?
You shouldn't have had to flip the exhaust around. If you already cut it once, cut it again and weld it with it bolted back up. Put a small weld on it and drop it again if you can't weld it all the way around.
if i didnt flip it, each flange was opposite each other. so when i fliped it. we got it closer. the bottom bolts we got in, but the top 2 are about 1.5" off from each other, like theyre shifted and wont turn.
sounds like they were made for an 04?
the guy i bought it from said it was from an 05, but was gonna put it on his 04, but never did. it almost lines up but just off enough to become a royal pain.
the ends of the pipes that connect to the midpipes, on the 04 they split off in different directions and look like a Y
on the 05/06 they stay side by side.
The bolts are not welded on are they? Bolt it up with the two and see if it will line up to get the other two started.
Is the piping on the car stock other than the corsa? sounds like the flanges may be clocked wrong on the catback. I would'nt expect that from corsa though.
Hmm.....interesting. When I put my Corsa Sport on my 05, it only took like 30 minutes. The hardest part was getting the stock exhaust off. The Corsa is one of the best fitting, best quality catbacks you can get. If you are having issues, something is wrong. Why is yours welded? It's a bolt-on exhaust, and they include good clamps. That may have something to do with it there.
i really think this guy may have modded it for an 04...
take a look at these pics at the top of the thread
http://ls2gto.com/forums/showthread.php?t=161960
http://www.ls2gto.com/forums/showthr...highlight=pipe
if the end of the catback that connects to the stock midpipes looked like the top one, it was for an 04
If it was installed once, it should install on the car unless the previous owner modified it.
The tips say Corsa on it and the pipes all look consistant? Hope it isn't a custom exhaust.
I had to have my corsa welded together. Those damn clamps just wouldn't hold up. No matter HOW much I tq'ed em down.
I'm assuming you purchased the Corsa Sport.
Corsa also makes a Corsa Touing Exhaust.
Check out these pics from the Corsa Website to see if you have everything.
http://www.corsaperf.com/gto_2005-6.htm
As mentioned the Corsa Exhaust uses heavy duty clamps to hold everything together.
The Corsa Sport is an easy 30 minute install once the car is off the ground. You shouldn't have any trouble at all.
The Corsa Sport is an easy 30 minute install once the car is off the ground. You shouldn't have any trouble at all. Damn! I know I took my time and didn't want to scratch any of the exhaust, but it took me about 3 hours and a couple of tries to get it perfect. I wanted the tips to stick way out and be centered and identical.
Damn! I know I took my time and didn't want to scratch any of the exhaust, but it took me about 3 hours and a couple of tries to get it perfect. I wanted the tips to stick way out and be centered and identical. The hardest part is making sure everything is line up (not including jacking the car up and putting it on stands). I'm also a perfectionist when it comes to my exhaust tips.
I keep everything loose and keep readjusting everything until the tips look pefect.
But I also switch from the Sport Exhaust to the Touring Exhaust depending on my mood. I've gotten pretty good at it.
But the basic install is very easy and doesn't take much time at all (maybe 1 hour at most). Then you can spend as long as you want making the tips look pefect.
I feel better now.
After a week I switched from Touring to Sport. I will see how it sounds after I get Kooks in a year.
how about posting some pics of the exhaust you got from the guy
Any luck?
well it was a hell of a job, but i got it to work. i had to cut the x pipe, flip it around. the only thing is, my tips hang a little low. the rubber hangers seem to be stretched to the max. when it gets warmer again i may take it back out and fix it right.

This is what really happens when you hold down the traction control button for more than 30 seconds!
No. Seriously I am sorry for your friend's loss. I could only dream of owning a Z06.
I was expecting something, but not that. Man that really sux. Those are my dream cars, that color combo particularly(black on black).
My condolances.

Is that a fitting for a nitrous line that he is unscrewing?
Is that a fitting for a nitrous line that he is unscrewing? Dont know why else you'd have a braided line with AN fittings in your trunk. Nitrous FTL (in this situation).
PS this should be in teh lounge.
Not even Zaino will fix that problem! Seriously that sucks, my condolences

SO what exactly is this heap? prev posts state a Z06? I couldnt tell if it was a Z06 or a Malibu.... FUBAR. Sry to see such a thing man.
Damn, that's a shame. Sorry for the loss.
If it was caused by nitrous though, I doubt insurance will cover it.
He should have gone with the 160 thermostat.
Does anybody else find it odd that this guy removed all of the pictures where you could see the remainder of his nitrous system?
Does anybody else find it odd that this guy removed all of the pictures where you could see the remainder of his nitrous system? No. Not if he's trying to get his insurance to cover it. Nitrous voids everything.
I dont know about you guys but if I had a zo6 I dont think id need nitrous
I dont know about you guys but if I had a zo6 I dont think id need nitrous Why? Nitrous is good. . . .except when this happens!!!
Sad to see, but is it a Z06? Did it burn in the driveway?
Doesn't look like the ground is really scorched.
i hope it isn't what it looks like. i'm not keen on insurance fraud. it's the same as stealing no matter how you try to justify it. a Google of that name in Virginia shows a run in with insurance by someone with the same name in the past.
