HID Kits On ebay...
Ordered H11 kit the other day for $98. It should be in next week, got the 8000 kit. Will post info when its installed. See the link below to the ebay store. http://stores.ebay.com/HID-Outdoor-E...QQftidZ2QQtZkm thats pretty cheap for HIDs very interested in the results I have two cheapie VVME HID kits and let me tell you: Get a pair for your fogs! :D I don't think my kits put out as much light as the more expensive brands, but it doesn't really matter once you put some in your fogs. Bright is bright at that point. Put in the HID kit toady... very easy to do. All wiring and connections included. Only thing left to do is drill a hole in the dust cap for the wiring. Bulbs look great and are bright! Very pleased and I reccomend this kit if your in the market for one. For the price, its worth it. Seems like good quality equipment. My goat is not my everyday car so i'm really not that concerned with the bulb life. The most miles I put on my car in a year is 1K. Ebay seller was good, package arrived within a week. :boink: post some pictures up after the install , Just want to see the quality what size HID bulb for the fog lights , i dont think they have a 9040 Sounds too cheap to be a quality set. what size HID bulb for the fog lights , i dont think they have a 9040 9005's are a direct fit. :) definently post some pics when you can, damn now I am interested in the 6000k slim set. Do they have any brand printed on the ballasts? They claim to use quality brands so this might be a good buy for the money. Boy that slim ballast is SLIM!! Wonder if it is as reliable as a normal size one Shoot, I bought my HID kit off eBay too. I think it came from China...where everything else is produced cheaply...and I love the look. No problems at all. No problems with grounding either like everyone else says. I have pics. Mine is 6000k Put in the HID kit toady... very easy to do. All wiring and connections included. Only thing left to do is drill a hole in the dust cap for the wiring. Bulbs look great and are bright! Very pleased and I reccomend this kit if your in the market for one. Ebay seller was good, package arrived within a week. :boink: Do you have any pictures? These always seemed like a "too good to be true" thing, but i'm glad you've had good luck with them. Would you say they're 50% brighter than stock? Is there any decent warranty on them? oh yeah, i noticed in the ebay ad, that you don't have high beams anymore? How does that work, that's a completely different bulb for the highs... Are all HIDs like that?? :drink::drink: durrr nevermind, the high beams don't work on the other bulbs that are single beam only. I just ordered some of these too. Do you know if any HID H11 bulb will fit these? I would like to see some night shots ,and any installation pics that you might have I just ordered some of these too. Do you know if any HID H11 bulb will fit these? I don't see why not. A bulb is a bulb. Don't quote me on that though. ;) Here are some of my pictures: So which set did your order for your fogs? When you install them, there may be a dimmer side. It isn't the bulb, rather it's placement within the housing. gotzaGTO has a brilliant fix(the man deserves a Guinness)- The fogs I ordered were 9006 I think. There are threads to insure the exact # bulb. I did a little bit of filing down the plastic tabs to make a fit. That's the only work I had to do and then to store/hide the ballasts. You'll have to pull the daytime running lights fuse too so they dont come on during the day for the headlights. I will post pics within the next couple of days... need to hunt down a camera. Kind of "broke" (threw) mine. I will post as soon as they are available. There are no brand names on any of the equipment. I used 3M double sided tape that the kit included for the mounting. Mounted one to the side of the relay cover on the passenger side and the other to my K&N CAI. Out of sight on both. I think the lights are 50% brighter then before. They also have a slightly blueish tint to them which I think looks great! get the philips, or hella, 4300 kelvin will give you more light. if you buy, the cheap E BAY stuff, your going to get shit,,,, spend yhe $$$$ money and get the good stuff, the higher you go on the kelvin scale the more / blue/ purple/ light you will get... i hope you know about KELVIN scale<<<< don`t be a ricer, on an GM AUTO!!!! I been running a HID kit from eBay for months on one of my cars and works perfects. I have the 10K unit. The headlights have a 15A fuse, I had to replace it with a 20A because it would blow out sometimes. Pics please!!!!!!!! Mine were from eBay and 6000K...still lookin good! Here are pictures of the install: i hope you know about KELVIN scale<<<< don`t be a ricer, on an GM AUTO!!!! GM has already past ricer... but the 04 Caddy SRX I traded in for the gto had very bluish 6-8k range looking HID's and they lit up the road like none other. Was always being flashed by the rednecks in laramie. get the philips, or hella, 4300 kelvin will give you more light. if you buy, the cheap E BAY stuff, your going to get shit,,,, spend yhe $$$$ money and get the good stuff, the higher you go on the kelvin scale the more / blue/ purple/ light you will get... i hope you know about KELVIN scale<<<< don`t be a ricer, on an GM AUTO!!!! actually i am a vendor for a very reputable HID lighting supplier and have to say that some of those "cheap" ebay kits perform quite well. you just have to shop around and do some research. i can remember the guy i bought a few of my kits from back in the day. but i do know that they workied just as good as the others i have owned. maybe not as bright as my VHO kits....but still decent quality for the price.
help with fog lights
ok i searched for "fog lights" but didnt pull up anything i needed. this is probably going to sound retarded but, how do you turn on our fog lights? i have tried all i know to do and still cant seem to figure out how they turn on....guess im an idiot :( ok i searched for "fog lights" but didnt pull up anything i needed. this is probably going to sound retarded but, how do you turn on our fog lights? i have tried all i know to do and still cant seem to figure out how they turn on....guess im an idiot :( I thought it was one of the selections on the headlight dial. You have to turn it off of auto I think. Doesn't it say in the owner's manual? Gerry I thought it was one of the selections on the headlight dial. You have to turn it off of auto I think. Doesn't it say in the owner's manual? Gerry i already tried that. i tried it in all positions and even the other spring loaded slide button ( dimmer i guess ). nothing seemed to work. maybe they are shorted/burned out? idk.. i hate reading manuals...lol they usually have everything in it but what im looking for. For instance, when we changed my thermostat in the semi-dark, i needed to know what type of ani-freeze my radiator took...b/c i didn't have any red in my shop. it doesnt tell you in the user manual or the radiator shroud. you gently pull the knob toward youself. Have you already tried it? you gently pull the knob toward youself. Have you already tried it? hmm, havent pulled it..lol never been in a vehicle that you pulled that type of light switch. looks like a turn left/right only...ill go check..haha haha that worked... why did it not cross my mind to PULL on that. thanks guys, really appreciate it!!! Dont worry, I did the same thing lol BTW, a simple "search" of the owner's manual would have provided you with this info without even having to check the internet. Lol...knew it had something to do with it. Can you tell how often I've driven mine in the fog in 50,000 miles? Gerry Ahh the internet comes through once again. LOL. Lol...knew it had something to do with it. Can you tell how often I've driven mine in the fog in 50,000 miles? Gerry i actually prefer " the look " of the fog lights even if its not foggy. i thought this whole time they auto came on..lol but im just happy i figured it out, thanks to you guys! :) I couldnt figure it out either. Felt like a real idiot when my buddy showed me. Why use the owner's manual? I thought all it had in there was how to use the seat belts and that you should take it to the dealer to do anything that involves opening the hood other than drooling on the LS2. ac What next? "How to put it in performance mode?" These are all in the owners manual. face! Whomever's riding shotgun better be able to scan the index in the Goat's manual, otherwise they ain't riding shotgun no more. Principle. What next? "How to put it in performance mode?" These are all in the owners manual. face! Who cares. The guy had a question and got help. If you don't want to read it don't open it.:oldfogey: lol I don't have an owners manual as the fakker that owned the car before me didn't leave it in the car. Too much weight I guess. tip for you guys that have no owners manuals. visit gm owner center at this site: https://www.mygmlink.com/main/US/en/gm/home register and then, viola! owners manual right there on your pc. all you questions answered. well... that's overtating it but it beats not having anything at all. Thanks gasguy. I just picked up another 05 manual for the car on fleabay for 14 bucks. I was just being onrey* sorry haha that worked... why did it not cross my mind to PULL on that. thanks guys, really appreciate it!!! this must be the European way. Different from most GM applications where all the lights are operated by the stalk on the steering column. Come on now, are there any manufactures that can claim percentages better visibility with fog lights on? Seriously! Those guys really need to get their head EDIT: heads into the game. mine have never been off. Funny, both our GTO and Mustang operate this way, pull the switch towards you for fogs. Ok...without sounding harsh when there are no practical loopholes gearheads tend to invent ways to improve on perfection. If anyone anywhere could utilize having a car's fog lights on it would be cars who are ahead of you at night on the freeway and would appreciate knowing if that object drawing closer at great velocity is a trooper or not. In a number of instances I have dropped down 2 gears and shot around a jackass vehicle knowing full well my odds of succeeding are favorable. But hey, I digress. My '96 Dodge Caravan had it, guess the GTO was copying them, and I think that rules it out as European. mine have never been off. +1 Only turned the fogs off to see how much they really do help. Swapped the bulbs to silver stars 9145's huge improvement. Aftermarket's replacing stockers EDIT aren't a perfect implementation.
Noob Mod Questions
I'm not a mechanic, and I don't know all the extensive motor-mechanics about cars. So this is where you guys' help comes in. I'm currently in the process of having APS Twin Turbo's put in. I have a new clutch on order, I've gotten bigger fuel injectors, new spark plugs/wires, and a fuel pump for it all. Other than upgrading to larger injectors, pumps, and twin fuel rails later, what are some other upgrades out there for the goat, and what do they do? What brands of what are best? I don't really know in what order (if any) upgrades should be installed. I don't know if you need 'this' in order to 'this', and things of that nature. All you guys' help will be great. I'm always up for learning new things. Thanks again! you would want to do the fuel system and clutch when the turbos are installed. Might be looking at destroying some of the drivetrain parts. It sounds like a good time. Maybe some halfshafts and a new driveshaft. The fuel injectors and pump are being installed along side the TT. I can get away with the factory clutch until the new comes in, I just won't drive it hard. I'll be as easy as possible. Shouldn't be too long of a wait between clutches. But what exactly would the drive shaft and half shafts do? yea i would say some driveline parts and a clutch. by the way are you the GTO at R.P.M in garner NC? if so have heard from another board its going to be nasty, anyway congrats on the TT Yea, it's at RPM. I would have gladly paid the extra money for someone else to do it sooner, though. They told me to bring it on a certain day, and I did. They waited a week to start on it. I had to purchase a rental car because I needed some form of transportation A waste of a week's worth of a rental car. If I would have known they weren't going to get around to my car for a week, I wouldn't have brought it in when I did. And what do you mean that you heard from another board it's going to be nasty? Usually this wouldn't confuse me, but with the amount of trouble I've been having with RPM lately, I wouldn't doubt it if you mean things are going wrong, haha. Yea that sucks, how much longer till its done with the tt install? Don't know. Hopefully it'll be done by Thursday. It looks like it's turning into a 3 week process for these guys. Of course, they were really the only one's around familiar with GM products. No one in the area, or within a 100 mile radius, has ever done anything to a GTO. Boy, what comfort that bestowed on me. yea i got mine tuned there and they said that they haven’t tuned to many GTOs, that didn’t make me feel to good but in the end they did a good job. the only other place i know of around here is carolina auto masters or something like that but its in Durham some where but they have done a lot more with gtos from what i hear Well i am sure that your power will exceed the 500 mark that the half shafts and the driveshafts are typicaly rated to. My buddy broke a half shaft and it was brutal on the underside of his car. I have broke a driveshaft in my TA and it tore things up pretty good so its probably just good insurance to get better ones. A tt setup will def. find the weak link in a drivetrain. What brands do you guys recommend? I know that maryland speed and thunder racing has BMR CV shafts and most people run the driveshaft shop, or driveline shop driveshafts. IF you look around on the parts for sale section you can probably find this stuff for a good price. If you have the bucks you can get it brand new if you want.
Wheels scratched, repairable?
Hi Guys, The stock 17's for my winter set got scratched when the tires were mounted. You think they could be sanded? They are from an '04, so no clearcoat. Any recommended methods? Pics: that could be easily fixed. however, i've never PERSONALLY repainted any wheels, so I can't recommend any shortcuts. www.fixrim.com i LOVE them, they do nothing but top-notch work, and i ALWAYS recommend them in every one of these threads. flat rate, SUPER FAST turnaround (a day in most cases), and they pick/up deliver. if you want to go DIY, i know there's a matching paint flying around...i'd probably sand it down with a real hard grit, then fill it in with some sort of filler metal, then paint and clearcoat. but, i dunno how good it would look, sorry i'm not up to date on how to DIY rim fix. www.fixrim.com i LOVE them, they do nothing but top-notch work, and i ALWAYS recommend them in every one of these threads. flat rate, SUPER FAST turnaround (a day in most cases), and they pick/up deliver. if you want to go DIY, i know there's a matching paint flying around...i'd probably sand it down with a real hard grit, then fill it in with some sort of filler metal, then paint and clearcoat. but, i dunno how good it would look, sorry i'm not up to date on how to DIY rim fix. http://www.paintscratch.com Look under 2005 GTO. There's a silver wheel paint that matches perfectly. I used it to touch up scratches on my 2006 GTO's wheels. I have done the following with great results. http://forums.audiworld.com/s4/msgs/949926.phtml That's barely a scratch. I'd leave it until they got really bad.
Corsa axlebacks anyone???
There is a very strong possibility that I will be able to offer Corsa axlebacks featuring the new "DB series" mufflers. Still waiting on more info from Corsa as well as pricing from the wholsaler so dont ask "how much" just yet. Just thought i'd toss this out and see the response...... S.F. I would perhaps be interested, any rough estimate on price? Corsa is funky stuff...seems to always need certain setups to sound right. Corsa is funky stuff...seems to always need certain setups to sound right. Agreed. That is precisely why I contacted Corsa prior to this thread to inquire about compatability with the resonant frequencies produced by the LS series engines. Corsa guy says they are good for our applications and is going to get back with me on the appropriate part numbers. S.F. Wonder how it'd sound with the kook 1 7/8, no cats and your h-pipe. So would this replace everything from your h-pipe back? I think it would only replace the axleback, like all the other ones SF has produced. I would be interested, but I doubt Corsa is going to let you have these muffs at a decent enough price... Wonder how it'd sound with the kook 1 7/8, no cats and your h-pipe. So would this replace everything from your h-pipe back? No, this would be an "axleback" assembly that bolts in place of your stock muffler assemblies. S.F. I think it would only replace the axleback, like all the other ones SF has produced. I would be interested, but I doubt Corsa is going to let you have these muffs at a decent enough price... Ah, the beauty of wholesale...... They definately are expensive compared to a Flowmaster or Magnaflow but I think they have a value in their technology and unique sound. It should be a nice alternative to the $$$$$ catback. S.F. would these be more like the sport or the touring model catback? would these be more like the sport or the touring model catback? sport sport "FastPaced" is correct. You could end up with the touring sound by installing some 4" Magnaflow bullets in the 04 location. S.F. Ryan, Are the mufflers you speak of a straight-thru design? Depending on how it sounds with your H-pipe, I might be interested. I've always wanted to hear corsa with h-pipe, since it supposedly has no drone. Edit- A bit off topic, but do you have tracking numbers for the H-pipes? :wall: Ryan, Are the mufflers you speak of a straight-thru design? Yes, this is a hallmark of the Corsa technology. The DB series mufflers are simply a way for Corsa to offer their straight through RSC tech in universal case sizes and layouts. Instead of round Corsa mufflers, you get oval Corsa mufflers in standard case sizes. Its a pretty slick setup, especially when you see a cutaway. S.F. S.F. I am interested in your axleback. Not to highjack the thread but on a stock 06 with A4 what is the difference in sound with the magnaflow 4" vs 6". Any drone or backfiring or popping? Okay, the Corsa rep and my wholesaler have finally gotten back to me with part numbers and pricing. So here's how it breaks down: Corsa "sport style" axleback using the "black" mufflers (8332544) would be $610.00 shipped Corsa "touring style" axleback using the "red" mufflers (8332454) would be $650.00 shipped *Please note the "red" and "black" is the code Corsa uses for the aggressiveness of the muffler, not an actual muffler color. Polished stainless remains as the finish. By way of comparison the Flowmaster axlebacks go for $450.00 shipped If anyone is interested, you know where to find me................ Thanks! S.F. I may be dense, but what exactly would be the difference between this and a new catback kit from corsa? Are the cat-to-axle pipes bigger on the corsa setup? Wow, thats expensive... Any chance for getting just the mufflers? I may be dense, but what exactly would be the difference between this and a new catback kit from corsa? Are the cat-to-axle pipes bigger on the corsa setup? The difference is the Corsa catback is a complete system and it is anywhere from $250-$300 more expensive. I am simply offering an alternative for those who want the Corsa sound in a bolt on configuration. This is the first opportunity that anyone has had to just run Corsa mufflers so I though I would offer them in an axleback product. The difference in pricing is purely the cost of the mufflers themselves (its Corsa after all) as I have the same labor costs in these as the Flowmaster or Magnaflow axlebacks I build. Its just another option to us. If people want them, I'll build them. If they dont, I'll just keep building Flowmasters and Magnaflows. S.F. Wow, thats expensive... Any chance for getting just the mufflers? $350 shipped for the "black" $390 shipped for the "red" S.F. So would these rear mufflers look like the Corsa Catback rear mufflers? The aesthetics of the Corsa is a big part of why I like it. So would these rear mufflers look like the Corsa Catback rear mufflers? The aesthetics of the Corsa is a big part of why I like it. No, these mufflers are oval shaped to be more universal in their mounting. Case size and inlet/outlet locations are similar to Magnaflow, Flowmaster and Dynomax Ultra-Flows. So for a GTO we need the "offset / offset / same side"? Is the price on their site per muffler, or per pair? The price is each, not a set. And yes you want the same side offset inlet and outlet. Look for the Mustang Cobra listing in 2.5" The part numbers are: 8332544 and 833554 S.F. $350 shipped for the "black" $390 shipped for the "red" S.F. See above for my pricing, not the list on Corsa's site. S.F. So are you going to be getting a set to try? Id be interested in hearing these, especially with the H-pipe. Ive always wanted to hear corsa w/out an x-pipe... So are you going to be getting a set to try? Id be interested in hearing these, especially with the H-pipe. Ive always wanted to hear corsa w/out an x-pipe... Perhaps. If I cant get anyone commited to purchasing them, then I'll just let the idea die. S.F. I'd definitely commit to purchasing if either: 1.) they can be made compatible with the SAP rear bumper/exhaust setup, or 2.) I can swap my rear bumper to stock.
