push start

Hi
(I have a 1987 rx7 turbo very nice) and the engine is running way to ruch is there anyway to lean it out? Also its not staring in the morning when i need to drive it. But it will start if i push start it down a hill and shift it into 2end and pop the clutch and than it will start good all day long from there. Dose anyone know how to fix this thanks.
Your starter might be tired (old and slow). When they age, it takes more voltage to produce the same amount of cranking RPM as when they're new.
Or the ignition key switch no longer works correctly in the 'START' position.
Those are the two possible problems you've got to work with. I can't think of anything else.
Does it not crank at all, or crank slowly? If it's cranking slowly, go down under the car & clean off the connections to the starter. Clean the ground connections in the car, too.
It sounds like the starter's getting old though, and having problems when cold. Either get good at push starting it, or take the starter in to get it tested. Any halfway decent auto shop will be able to test it for free.

Theres a lot of stuff you could do. You need to take the intake manifold off and have all your injectors cleaned, you need to get a new starter and battery, replace your spark plugs and have it tuned by someone who knows how to lean it out with hurting your engine. After you do those things you should have your problem solved.
How long have the spark plugs been in their? Mileage? You could also have a faulty TPS.
not tryin to jack ur thread, but i am kinna having the same problem. i can hear it crank but it just wont start without having me stomping on the gas pedal. i am driving a 91 na, can anyone help. thx
is the rpm gauge jumping when you try to start the car ????? if not, it may be your crank angle sensor .....
i can hear the engine "churn" like it is trying to start but, its like there is nothing to light things up.
e6k > e6x ?

Hello. I was wondering why everyone eas using e6k instead of the newer e6x. Are they basically the same just e6k is cheaper or is e6k better?
Mostly its because the E6K is tried and true and its internal reluctor adaptor is apparently better suited to the FC's trigger.
The E6X had a few issues when it was brand new, everything's been sorted by this point and it would (and does) run these engines fine.
There's also the price factor, but any E6K (unless you luck out and find an un-used new one like Claudio had :) ) you find will be used since they're no longer made, whereas the X can be purchased brand new.
woops sorry for the spelling mistake above, was trying to post before heading to class, but the forum is being SOOOOO slow. :(
Anyways, after reading over the haltech site, I noticed that there isnt any closed loop control. After researching that I came to the conclusion that is only if you have severe weather / altitute changes? Also does the e6x have any more features than the e6k?
One last question if you don't mind. Should I be scared to buy a used unit? There isn't really a way to break the ECU is there? I could see wireing harnesses being all screwed up, not not the ECU itself correct?
Thanks.
Opps I lied, one last last question. Is anybody disapointed or unsatified with the e6k or e6x compared to the e8 or E11v2? I am in the market for an ECU right now and I want to get everything I could ever need without paying to much. The only difference I see between the e6x and the e8 is closed loop boost control, and a user defined resolution. Am I missing something, or is that really worth the extra money?
for the relative small $$$ difference between the e6x and e8 i think most people opt for the e8, at least i did, and love that system
a couple options that sold me on the e8 vs the X, that you should consider
like you said...
closed loop boost control
user defined resolution
but also....
a generic rpm/load PWM map....... for AI
more load points
just more all around features
awesome ok thank you very much. I am starting to get excited. :)
There are plenty of reasons to buy an E8 over an E6X... but I have never had a problem with my E6X... However neither the 6K or 6X will not operate the electric oil meter pump
The only reason I am selling my X is because it wont run my next project like an E11 will

Fake Tein S-Techs?

i remember reading a long time ago that there were fake tein s.tech springs on ebay. i did a search but couldn't find anything on the subject. has anyone heard anything about the immitation s.tech springs??
thanks in advance
Here you go buddy: http://www.tein.com/counterfeit/

ebay ones seem fine...wats fake about um?
ebay ones seem fine...wats fake about um? They may not be the proper spring rates, or have been spring tested at all. You could end up with 400 front right, 380 front left, 200 rear left and 250 rear right. Who knows what you'll get if they aren't legit.
ebay ones seem fine...wats fake about um? and here we have their market base...
I plan on going with the mono flex. I plan to buy from my local shop though.
