L92 Block

Can you use ETP 215 Heads and a Fast 90mm Intake and Nick Williams TB on an L92 Block?
Yes, but honestly, the heads will be a bit small. Not a bad thing, but for a little more $, you can have way better breathing with 225's or even 245's.
Also, when swapping in an L92 block into an LS1 car. The same things apply as swapping in an LS2. The knock sensors and cam sensor are in differant locations as the LS1's. So reloaction harnesses will be needed.
Would it be better to just go with L92 ported heads?
Trickflow 225's.
I see that you already have a ported fast so you should just forgo the L92's. Most people go with the L92 on the cheaper L76 intake manifold to save money.
The L92's make good power but if you want that extra 30hp, using the tf 225's with a ported fast will make the difference. 215's with a small cam have made 500rwtq on a 402, so with the slightly larger 225's on the 4.06in bore should be just right. This is if your going to use a smaller drivable cam. 245's will make more out of a LARGE cam but suffer on the midrange torque. If you can afford etp 215 you can afford tf 225's.
Yeah, just looking at what the options are on the L92 block as far as intake and heads.
For some reason I thought the FAST intake wouldn't work with the L92 block, but I think that is only if you use L92 heads.
FAST should work on an L92 block if I go with ETP 225's correct?

Get with me after I get back from the PRI show. ;)

FAST should work on an L92 block if I go with ETP 225's correct? That is correct. The L92 heads have a rectangular intake port. Which the FAST intake is not made for. So traditional heads with the cathedral ports is what you will need for the FAST intake to be used.

Ha ha, Ed....every time I think I know what I want something new pops up.
SS Maggie shaft wobble on engine decel...

I noticed a new noise that sounded blower related today. Sounds like the whine of a roots type, I think it's vacuum related though.
While under the hood, I was cracking the throttle and when I revved the motor higher (guessing around 4K) and snapped the throttle shut, the drive shaft on the blower was "wobbling" although it's not wobbling per say, it's having some pretty serious harmonics causing it to rotate with runout in the center and migrating to nothing at the bearings. I got out my trusty stethoscope and the bearings sound good, they're also not rotating in the carriers (checked with flashlight). The bearings also don't have ANY play in them. This is just the shaft unable to take the torsion of the motor slowing down slower than the blower is. Weird...
Anybody ever have a stainless steel shaft failure?
Don't know if it is related or not, but when I looked into getting a maggie last year or so, I was told "there is a delay due to them having issues with the carbon fiber shaft. They have a stainless shaft, but they are having harmonics issues with them right now, so there is going to be a little wait". Like I said, don't know if it is related or not, but since it also has to do with harmonics with the steel shaft, I figured it was worth mentioning.

Leaking Struts and Radius Rod Bushes Worst Case

We held a Pedders day at Rossi Pontiac on July 21st. You can't hold a Pedders Day without doing Pedders 28 Point Checks. Of the 21 28 point checks we performed I don't believe a single car was perfect. The results were worse than usual probably due to the rough roads in and around New York and New Jersey.

3 Cars with detached front or rear endlinks - handling hazard
1 Car with severely cracked drag radial sidewalls - dangerous
1 Car with a bald front inner right tire - dangerous
1 Car with leaking struts and radius rod bushes - unsafe to drive

Worst Case Scenario Video for a GTO

This video was taken by a guest. Thank YOU Hummina!!! It shows a GTO at 5 MPH with ONLY 7,500 miles on the odometer leaking struts and bad radius rod bushes. This is a radius rod bush test done at 5 MPH with the brake pedal pushed to the floor as it would be in a panic stop. The bobble head inside the car belongs to yours truly. This is the worst case scenario for a GTO owner: failed struts and failed radius rod bushes. A Panic stop at 35 MPH, IMO would be uncontrollable with a car in this condition. The owner left in a rental car. The staff at Rossi and Pedders would not allow the car back on the road without repair. I probably hold the record for GTO suspension inspections and tests. This is the single worst car I have tested. Do not drive a car with failed struts it is not safe. I have posted this before and now have a video to make the point. If you have additional video of this car please get it posted and post your link in this thread.

The moral of the story is that every owner of every car has a responsibility to maintain it. Get your car into the nearest Pedders Dealer to have a 28 Point Check. If you don't have a Pedders Dealer find a service technician that you trust and have them check out your car. If you do your own work, make sure you routinely check every nut and bolt under your car. A very high percentage of the forum members drag, autocross, road course or drive their GTO faster than the posted speed limit. That number is probably 99.9%. Your car is heavy. Your car accelerates fast. Goes fast. Your GTO stops faster. Your GTO requires more maintenance than a Miata because it is bigger and faster. It is almost as fast as a Corvette but it is heavier and so requires more maintenance. I think you understand where this is going. Bald tires, exposed tire sidewall cords, missing bolts, leaking struts, leaking shocks, bad bushes, tire tread wear patterns and more can only be evaluated when you take the time to inspect it as a DIY or have it done by a qualified professional. If you drive like a race car driver -- perform maintenance like a race car crew chief. The life you save may be your own.

This isn't a a thread to bash GM for bad parts. It has nothing to do with the owner's being bad guys who don't perform proper maintenance. It isn't a thread to sell more Pedders bits, though it probably will. It is a reminder that even though you checked it a few weeks ago, looked at it while you changed the oil or what ever. The only way to know that the suspension and tires have been correctly checked is to use a checklist just like a pilot for pre-flight. Parts break. Parts have manufacturing flaws and fail. Bolts come loose. Perdieu put up a great post a few weeks ago about loose bolts. Sh-- Happens. Get over it. Your job and our job is to make sure less of it happens. We will never be perfect but we will keep trying.

Check your GTO before and after every race and at the absolute least once a year. If you can't DIY, 28 Point Checks are FREE on Pedders Days, $28.00 USD every day at your Local Pedders Dealer. End of Public Service Announcement / Pedders Commercial.
hssaini is a member of the Pedders Nation, but did not take the video. The post has been corrected to show Hummina as the videographer.

PEDDERS RULES!
I am under mine pretty frequently and check most of the suspension out while I am under there to make sure issues like this dont come up. I clean the inner part of my wheels about once every other month or so as well just to make sure nothing has gone amiss.
I did look today and noticed my upper nuts on the struts do not look like anyones pictures on here. Did GM change them in the 06 model year. I dont see anyway for my upper strut mounts to show signs of the collapassed upper mount like I had seen pics of before.
I guees it wont matter for long as I plan on doing the $1200ish pedders kits at the beginning of next year and replace all of the shocks and springs, upper mounts and sway bar bushing to get this thing to handle better.
What all is looked at under the 28 point Justice?

What all is looked at under the 28 point Justice? Everything in the suspension from strut mounts to bushes, to endlinks to dampers, to tires. I'l, try to get a list up here from the PDF we use.

PEDDERS RULES! LMFAO
But it is true.
Thanks Pete for posting this. Trust me, it was much worse in person. I really couldn't believe it.
I'm in the background in that video.
I'd say my RR's were equally bad when Frank tested them (wheels almost touched the wells), but my car had about 18K at the time and the struts weren't bad.
It's scary how quickly things wear out on this car, people don't want to believe it until they experience it for themselves.
During my last race someone noticed my front end shifting while doing a burn off. I called Frank (myfirstgto) for some Pedders advice. The first thing he said was to do the 5 mph test, sure enough it showed the radius rod bushings were shot. Frank set me up with the parts I needed to correct the issue and didn't try to sell me parts I didn't need. Bad part is after looking over the car tonight I found out one of my struts is shot too..
.. yea bad struts are dangerousish. Not as bad as cracked tires.. or torched springs, or cut springs...
.... You know that ragged out clapped out mustang GT at the used car lot... you're turning your car into that slowly.. its a fact of life. Live with it or drive nice.
(not turning it into a mustang.. just clapped out junk) Difference is.. that clapped out old fox body is a little more simply built. Maybe The car is heavier than its monaro counterpart? Maybe GM isnt mid 80s mercedes-Benz. Either way.. yea the suspension seems to fade quickly.
Was that video shot with a cell phone?
video was with a cell phone...Humminas.
after seeing this in person I am glad my struts are ok for now...I already replaced the RR bushings......as black devil said in person it was truely shocking and scary
We Have The car and Today We Will Fix IT with some NEW PEDDERS C/G Front Struts, Radius Rod bushings,424209s,H-D End Links, Strut Mounts and Bearings,Also a front and rear cradle Alingment....Frank
Still cant believe my car happened to be the worse in suspension. I'm glad the folks at Rossi are pedderizing my car, making it much safer than it turned out to be. And yes, it was much worse in person.
This is a worst case scenario -- two failed struts and radius rod bushes. It is the first car we found that reacted this dramatically. It was comical on one hand and as serious as a heart attack on the other. Suspension wear is insidious. I creeps up a little bit at a time so you don't really feel it. When a woman finds her first gray hair she starts looking to see if she has any others. The harder she looks the more she finds. It wasn't her first gray hair -- it was the first gray hair she NOTICED.
28 Point Checks are a way of life in some countries. They are called safety checks and required by law. Some countries use drive on shock testers to check for damper wear. If Pedders brought the same level of scrutiny to any other performance car -- and we will over time -- we'll identify defects that the owner didn't realise were there. The story will be very much the same -- performance cars require maintenance.
We have done our initial R & D on the Shelby Mustang suspension. Your GTO is far superior. The performance Mustang suspension rides on the rear bump stops under the slightest bump or acceleration. The sway bars are gargantuan to try to keep the thing on the rode and destroy any semblance of ride quality. The dampers are worse than a GTO with 25K of hard driving when it rolls out of the showroom.
To keep a car in better than new condition takes a lot of TLC. Keeping it in showroom new condition takes less effort but still requires effort. Change the oil and turn the key is not enough for a Grand Touring performance car. The rewards far out weigh the cost and effort judged by the SEGs of those who Pedderise.
Keep in mind this thread was posted as a Safety Notice. Missing bolts, cracked tires, chunks out of rims at the bead, chunks out of tires, and bald tires are SAFETY Hazards. If you drive like a race car driver maintain your car like a race car crew chief. In addition to your personal inspections get a third party to look it over. A fresh set of eyes will see things you don't. A Pedders 28 Point Check is exactly that.
hey, i took that video!!!:wall:
but yea, that was crazy:monkee:

Hot of the Press: Photoshoot w/ my new 06 IBM

wow nice pics very nice pics actually
Some very nice work there. The very last picture is my favorite.
Awesome camera work. Car looks great too.
nice pics looks like some body took some photography classes
nice. only one thing i saw (i'm no expert, but experts have told me this...); you shouldn't take pics with objects like trees coming out of your roof/hood.
nice. only one thing i saw (i'm no expert, but experts have told me this...); you shouldn't take pics with objects like trees coming out of your roof/hood. some cool exposures, but you are right about the trees thing. look in the magazines, see what they do, and you will get a better idea of your backgrounds
just a little friendly advice
Great pictures. Gotta love IBM @ dusk.
Great pics man...awesome looking IBM!!:hail:

let me guess some some Render with Lens Flare and a some added Gradient in Photoship ;)
:D Yeah, you've definitely got that one pegged Maverick...it was a crummy photo so I figure I'd try something with it.
And while we're on the subject of the photography itself, yes, I agree, some of the photos could have been better left for dead. Sometimes less is more. But this is my first time posting pictures of her, so I wanted to show off a bit. I was limited on time (hence the same location...unfortunately much of which was surrounded by trees) and I just grabbed a Cybershot to take the pics with...not the 20D, like what was used on the M3. Better pics will come.
Thanks for all the comments though guys. I'm enjoying GTO ownership...so far, so good.
I miss my stock 18's... they look so nice on IBM.
Nice pics!
Love that color with the blue interior!
Welcome aboard.
Mike
great pics
good color choice....awesome pics....and of couse the fastest color... hehehe
Your goat looks great/nice pics..

keep it up!
lens flare is cheesy.
I think your driver side side skirt is damaged or something right behind the front tire... looks off.
Nice pics... We'll have to do a TR/R IBM/B photo shoot sometime with a nicer camera.

Next time I take pictures, I'll make sure to snap a couple of his peeling paint, cracking foglight, and incorrectly installed seatbelts, and if I could take pictures of his failing power steering pump, I would. :-punch:

My seat belts were screwed up by the dealer... my paint isn't peeling, it's failing on the edges on the trunk lid, and you would have never known if I hadn't of shown you... (your side skirt is painfully obvious in person) Fog light isn't cracking past the seals and isn't visible...
At least my paint isn't swirled to hell, and my steering wheel isn't bubbling up... :-punch:
I wonder who you know who can fix that little problem?
Congrats on the GTO though... I can't be jealous of a color combo I would never own.
like the 3rd shot best in both posts...nice!

Congrats on the GTO though... I can't be jealous of a color combo I would never own. Go back into your room and start writing your paper you ******! My steering wheel is going to be replaced under warranty and you can't even tell there's something wrong with my sideskirt but it too will get fixed easily. And you get to detail all the swirlies away. :D So give me a break before I break both of your legs...you can still buff my car in your wheel chair.
Face it James...you want my car. Shock was the first stage...now you're in denial. Soon, anger will come. And after bargaining, depression, and testing, you'll accept the fact that like me being better than you, so too is my car better than your car.
Love,
Matt

Flat Blue Kooks Installed

2 Attachment(s) I finally had my Kooks LT headers installed yesterday. I purchased the headers from Maryland Speed and had Futral Motorsports install them (along with a tune). I'm attaching a couple pictures for those who may be considering having their headers coated in Jet Hot's flat blue finish.
Looks good! That is the same brand and color I want on mine!
Next up, a Futral cam!
They look sweet
hotrodkush has the same ones they look cool.
i like my flat black though :gr_devil:
Looks Great!
Interesting. Not a big fan of odd colors on exhaust. I thought my titanuim color was odd when I got it though. But it went from a greenish color to almost a flat grey. Much more livable.
I'm getting cherry red headers so they look like they're glowing like I'm running lean all the time. And to continue the Darth Maul theme.
