02 7.3 fuse problem
I am having a problem with blowing a 10 amp fuse. It is the one that runs the dash cluster, lights, and the accelerator petal. Its an 02 f350 7.3 automatic. I have found everything that makes the fuse blow. If I shift from reverse to drive to quickly, or use the first or second gear, or if i turn overdrive off the fuse blows. any idea's? Paul thats a tough one. the only thing i can think of is maybe there is a pinched wire at the base of the shifter and it keeps getting bumped around when you do the formentioned things. Go ask the guys over at http://www.ford-trucks.com send a pm to MikePSD he really seems to know those trucks. thats a tough one. the only thing i can think of is maybe there is a pinched wire at the base of the shifter and it keeps getting bumped around when you do the formentioned things. stroker probably hit the nail on the head.... it's pretty common on the Ford's for the wires leading from the overdrive off button on the shifter to chafe at the base of the shifter where they enter the steering column. If it's fuse #46? be careful the alternator runs through it. what have you added to truck as of late jsut asking because sometimes thats your answer if nothing and its stock ok . what i like to do is rig up a HD flasher in my fuse some don't keep popping them . do a wiggle test on the harness for any small breaks in them harness check your grounds . let us some when what was condintion that it started happening . also do have a wiring diagram ? My buddy had that problem with his 02.This mat not be yours but i,ll let you know what his was.The dealer found the problem,Water was leaking in from the windshield running down thw window post on the d-side and landing on the fuse panel rotting it out and causing the fuse to blow.If you have had a windshield done which most have this could be your problem his was rotted out badly behind where the glass sits. The dealer told him to fix would be 4g to cut off the roof and replace it and replace the entire fuse box.Hope this helps this maybe what your got for troubles. good luck. hey im not sure if you have the version with 2 fuse blocks or one but if you have 2 well here is a copy/paste from ford-trucks.com. i just happend to stumble upon this. "If it's the under dash #19, IIRC, it's the purple-orange wire in the steering column where the shifter enters. It chafes in the bend around the bracket, shorts to ground, blows the fuse. I had the same problem a while back, real easy fix with a small piece of electrical tape. But I think mine only did it when I canceled OD.. hope this helps!" The overdrive off switch wires are a common problem. They have tiny wires running to it. I have driven ones that turn the overdrive off if you turn the wheel to the steering stop. The next time you do it the overdrive comes back on. Is it supposed to be a higher amp fuse that was wrongly replaced perhaps before you got the truck??? Headlight bulbs in 2000 superduty
Whats a good bright bulb to replace what I have now. Recommendations??? Looking for something bright and reasonably priced. Thanks run the stock bulbs or you can step up tp the euro style headlights alittle clearer and nicer over the style used on 99 -pre01. ive never been a fan of those high priced bulbs they seem to me not worth the money in those old style lens . You need to do a couple of things to improve your headlights. 1st off the bulbs are not your biggest problem. You need to replace the light assemblys with the 03 ones like these. The fluted lense on your truck now has the worst light reflecting ability. Doing this is a major improvement. 2nd is to add a headlight harness. Dfuser has a very good quality harness for this. Part # CIS/WIR-9007 H/L. Doing these 2 things will make the most improvement. If you want to add brighter bulbs you need to at least do the harness as you will melt the factory headlight plugs without it. i have hella 9007 in my headlights and they are extreamly bright. they are more of a whiter light then yellow. I also have them in my fog lights and im impressed with them. cars are almost always pulling over too let me pass cause there too dam bright 6.0L Diesel issue.
Hey, I have an issue with my 6.0L. So far its nothing other then sounds but id like to resolve it. "Some times" the loud noise (normal 6 liter clunking/idle noise) from the engine will taper off and go quiet for a couple seconds and it will either stay this way until the gas is pressed OR shake a little and then return to the normal noise and then taper off again. The idle does not budget at all from 650. If ANYONE has any idea what this could be any suggestions are welcome. Thanks Jeff Try searching the INTERNET for Ford Diesel / Truck Forum's. They know the Ford PSD's forward and back. You become a member and you can post questions. I some of the 6.0's we have at the Ambulance Company I work for have had injector problems lately. Some are near 100k miles. Jeff....kiss your Tourque Converter goodbye. $300 Part, $700 labor. How many miles on your 6.0? Hey, It has 89,000 KM. Is this covered under warentee? What makes you think its a torque converter? Thanks Jeff Thats what it sounds like from what your telling me, although your description is rather vague and confusing. Ask your dealer about the details about your warranty, but ours is 3 yrs, 36k. I doubt its that different in Canada. Yea its a rather vague problem lol. Basically the loud noise the diesel engine makes tapers off and it kind of idles quiet and either shutters a tiny bit and returns to normal idling sound or stays quiet until I tap the gas. On the diesels here they are 100,000 mile 5 year warentee but I do not know if tranny is included. I didn't think it would be something as serious as a torque convert as I have no driveability problems, its just the sound and only some times. Cheers Jeff What can change in a diesel engine at an idle that effects the sound and not the rpm? Injector pump? Bad computer? I belive ive found the answer to the problem on another forum. The EGR may be sticking and this is whats causing it. Any suggestions/input welcome. Thanks Jeff if you pin pointed that you can take off and clean the carbon off and see if clears up Check the oil, cause you probly have low oil pressure!!! Those trucks will make funny noises if you let them get low on oil. You need to check the oil level in the truck every week & top it up. Low oil pressure will cause the ICP sensor to malfunction. Hope this helps. If you are talking about the truck when it is idleing not driving, it has nothing to do with the Torque Converter. Some of these guys are hitting what it problem is. If you havn't changed your fuel filter in a while, start there, the other thing to do is to take the truck to Ford for a computer update. As Ford progressed through their 6.0 motor, the started to figure out there own problems. Long explanation but here it goes.... I started having problems this year with my 6.0. Yes, it is tuned. Never had a problem until I let of the accelerator one day and the RPM's didnt drop down to idle. It stayed up at about 1500. Once I got stopped at the intersection it came back down. Ok, wierd. It started happening more and more until it was a multiple time thing all day, every day. The truck would lunge forward like it was surging when I was in drive-thru lanes, puke out and sputter (blowing black smoke) when it was idling, all sending me to a world of pissed off i've never been in before. I took it to the Ford dealer and they flashed it and said it was fixed no problems. I didnt even get out of the lot and it was doing it again. So I took it back again and they kept the truck for 3 days, put 100 miles on it while it was hooked up to a computer getting monitored, and replaced the EGR valve. That worked. Problem fixed for about a month. Everything started over again. Back it went for another EGR valve. The dealer told me not to flash it or anything and keep it in stock mode and see what happens. Thats where we are at now. Guess where the truck goes this coming Wednesday? Back to the dealer for the same thing.....the chip isnt affecting it so something else is goin on....I pay $100.00 for a deductible each warranty repair but thats it. Your Powerstroke Diesel engine is factory warrantied until 100,000 miles or 5 years. No matter if its a Duramax, Cummins, or Powerstroke. I'm taking a guess, but I think you need a new EGR valve there Jeff.... Can this Ford Be a Lemon????
Hello everyone. I am considering on buying a 1979 Ford F100. 2WD A little rust. Runs good an automatic. Exhaust leaks under manifold. 302 engine? It is a V8 (gas) When I pressed down on the brake, it felt kind a hard to push down on. My nieghbor told me that could be loss of vacuum in the brake line. Please help me here. PS he asks for $1,000.00 thelandscaper27 Just buy it, you can always pour lots of money into it later! Could be lots of things...does it have power brakes?? Sounds a little high for a 2 wheel drive but beats the price of a new truck. If it is what your looking for try to negotiate a better price, who knows maybe you'll own it. Good luck, Mark K If it says ford anywhere on the truck, its a lemon. I Knew Dino was going to chime in sooner or later:D :D You just keep driving those Cheby's Dino;) LOL Greg You mean Dodge Dino not Ford. JK LOL. I am impressed with the new Chevy though. A fellow contractor stopped on Monday at a lot I was working. He had a brand new Duramax Chevy with a 8ft Fisher. Let me finish the lot with it. Now there was only 3-4" but I was impressed. It had good power and was quiet. Problem was plowing with an 8ft after working all night with a 9ft. My only real concern may seem petty but I did not like the seats. I found them a little too bolstered for me. Maybe I would get used to them. Dino, Look out a Ford is coming! Just jokin with ya brother:D Greg I expect that when I start slamming fords in the ford forum. Although with Bills rust thread in the Dodge forum, I now see that fords and dodges are junk. Glad I own a bow tie. Dino Originally posted by plowking35 Although with Bills rust thread in the Dodge forum, I now see that fords and dodges are junk I would blame myself more than the truck, for being lax with undercarriage washing esp during the winter months. I agree, I am sure there are items under my truck that could use some TLC why not have the guys paint the underbodies. That's what we have been doing. And when were done with that, we'll polish the blades, and then steam clean the blocks, polish the ceiling fans, clean out the heating ducts in the building.... You get the idea. Sorry, just venting and kidding. I'm waiting for some snow too or at least a good warm streak. Its just that I have a half a dozen or so sidekicks waiting with me. Another couple of warm days and we'll be able to finish some landscaping jobs we started before Christmas, so really nothing to complain about. But I'm a Ford guy, so I couldn't help checking this post. How about $500.00, take it or leave it for that truck. This way you can get used to paying for stuff 500 bucks at a time, which is probably how it will go for a while with an older truck, if you're lucky. SLS you are doing some of the same things we are. :) Actually I kinda like the half days myself. Spend more time with the wife. Thanks for the advice. I think that I should stay with those Chevys. The vehicle has power braks. Western mount interchange??
My friend has a 85 F-250 ld with a Conventional Western setup. He wants to move up:eek: to a 96 F-150 . He only does residential and small parking lots. Would his mount fit the 96 ?? I know the 150's and Bronco's had crumple zones with the front frame. I don't think it will but what about the 87-91 + 92- 97 F250 + 350's . I tried the search here and the western site just confused me  . Thanks for any help BOB i don't have a conventional, but i do have a unimount, and i looked into swapping from my f-150 to a f250, and becasue of the leaf springs the mount is different. It may be different with the conventional.
