anyone here plow with a 1500
06 1500 reg cab short bed? any opinions for light duty no commercial work Can't speak for these newest trucks, but I ran 1500 extended cab short beds for a long time with no problem (and without any ballast in the bed). Using the recommended ballast, I imagine you'll be smooth sailing with that truck. May want to stiffen up the front suspension (which I never did), but you should do well. ~Kevin I just traded in a 03 1500 QC Short Bed that had a Boss on it. I also only use for personal use. The front end did sag a bit, lights dimmed a lot, and I had to be careful of overheating when running on the highway. I just bought a 2500 w/ the plow prep package. the front end on the 06 is an new design. what years do you guys have. i would love to hear from someone that had a plow mounted on 06 Can't help with the new design, but I've had an 8'2" Boss V on a '96 1500 since it was new. No more front end work than the 2500 or 3500 I had. on a side note is there anyone local to CT who is interested in buyin a near brand new blizzard 760 lt. 2 seasons barely used my buddy has an 06 with a fisher 8ft on it he does his own commercial lot and 6 of his rental homes. he switch the 20s to 17s for the winter.no problems with the front end but the truck does squat a lot.with no ballast in the back it is hard to drive.the front end does bottom out over bumps. think you can get some pics. It is a 1500 right? yes it is a 1500.i will try to get some pics next time I go over there. Try searching my posts. I had a 04 1500 quad cab with a Blizzard 760lt on it. Throw some timbrens on and you'll be fine. the 04 had a solid front axle still.in 06 they went to independent coil overs in the front 04 had torsion bar IFS not solid axles. i think i remember solid axles in front up to 02-03 I was wrong in my last post the 02 and up rams arent solid axles in the 1500s.but in 06 they went to a coil over shock design for a car like ride. 06 1500 reg cab short bed? any opinions for light duty no commercial work Hi if you haven't got a plow for your 1500 I have a nice one with Dodge Mounts E-mail me if you have any interest jphanratty@charter.net I run a 96 ram 1500 ext cab reg box it plows awesome but u will go through ball joints and u joints like water! just a warning We currently have a 1999 Dodge 1500 Sport with a Boss 8'2" vee and a 15' SwingWing. Just sold my 1988 Dodge W100 with a Boss 8'2" vee and 8' backblade. I have several buddies that run 1/2 Dodges with 9'2" Boss vees with 16' SwingWings, I also know one of my subs running a 8'2" Boss vee and 7' backblade on an S-10. It can be done with the right upgrades and mods. 2 pennies,:dizzy: 8'2" boss vee on an s-10????? are you kidding me?? i gotta see pics of that. and i was thinking a 9'2" boss v would be too much for my 3/4 ton:dizzy: 8'2" boss vee on an s-10????? are you kidding me?? i gotta see pics of that. and i was thinking a 9'2" boss v would be too much for my 3/4 ton:dizzy: I do not know exact year, but it is a ZR2 extended cab 4x4. I'll see if I have a pic. speaker problems
speaker problems, I have a proublem..... Not that kind!:dizzy: lol The drivers side(door) speaker on my 98 and 01 cuts out. Have any of you experinced this proublem? If so where did you find the short? take the panel off and see if a wire is loose on the speaker take the panel off and see if a wire is loose on the speaker I pulled both door panels and the speakers are hoked up every thing looks good in the doors.?? SF, you problem might be with the speaker itself and not with the wiring. If you want to verify this, just swap the speakers side to side...that will tell you right away if it's a wiring or a speaker problem. Most OEM speakers are garbage so don't be surprised if it's the speaker thats shot. Is the bottom of the door rusting yet? Most Dodges I see are. Drivers is more common because people have that window open, open that door more. Water has gotten down in there and the moisture has killed the speaker. The inside of the doors looked dry and clean there still in good shape. It just seamed weird that both trucks have the same problem. The speakers looked to be good but I'll take another look and maybe try a different speaker. They will work for a little while then stop working for a few days:dizzy: . No one else with a dodge has had this problem? I would guess that it may be the speaker it self. I would also venture a guess that its only th driver side door becuae that door gets used much more than the passenger side door. All that slamming you hafta do to get dodge doors to shut is pretty hard on speakers.... :D See if you pinched a wire by the hinge from opening and shutting all the time. I would guess that it may be the speaker it self. I would also venture a guess that its only th driver side door becuae that door gets used much more than the passenger side door. All that slamming you hafta do to get dodge doors to shut is pretty hard on speakers.... :D Impossible, he doesn't get out to shovel. LMAO See if you pinched a wire by the hinge from opening and shutting all the time. Thats kind of what I was thinking. I was just hoping someone else had this proublem ans could direct me to the short so I wouldn't have to tear it all apart.:dizzy: I would guess that it may be the speaker it self. LMAO  :D You mean to tell me, that slamming the door as hard as you can may not be good for the speakers? who knew?:waving: what you have to look for is water marks on the speaker.these trucks had a water problem.remove the speaker and see if it has a foam cover covering the back of the speaker.dodge made a cover to put in to keep the water off, but the only way to buy it is with a new speaker. Thanks for the ideas. I won't be able to work on it until next week. new speakers and pull some new speaker wire also. I have the same problem with my 96 & 00 Dodge Ram 2500's. The 96 driver's side door speaker is very weak. The 00 driver's side door speaker is gone. It started out by going in and out and then wouldn't produce sound until the truck had been running for about 1/2 hour. Now its gone completely. I know I have to replace the speakers, I'm just wondering what I'll have to pay and where I'll find them. I obviously don't want to replace them with anything fancy, just reliable. Let me know. both front doors take a regular 6x9 speaker. Crutchfield is a good company with fair prices. Great customer service. Both the speakers on my '99 failed, so I bet it is your speaker. That's what I was looking for someone else with the same proublem. It looks like a new pair of speakers for both trucks. That was easy.;) thanks, Grab the wire loom going to the door and flex it back and forth lightly along it's length with the stereo on. You may find you have a broken wire in there near the spot that it bends at. I've had to repair a few opens in my door harnesses but they were to the locks and windows rather than the speakers. new guy needs help mounting up used meyer plow
Hi Guys, I have 92' w150 I picked up to use as a beater on the farm.It is fully loaded and runs good.i had to rebuild the tranny and now i have to find another rearend, but thats another thread. My neighbor gave me a Meyer plow and the front mount with the pump.the plow is an ST-90 and the pump is a E47.He got it from another guy and that guy just cut it off the truck.I have no controls and I believe I am missing some of the lower mount.I think this mount might have been on a chevy since it seems to be narrower than my Dodges frame. I wondered if anyone can give me a close up pic of thier mounts on thier older dodge pick ups.I would like to fabricate my missing parts and get everything mounted in the corrocet places. Can anyone help a guy out:waving: Thanks Aaron Anybody got an older dodge pickup with a plow on it? I have been looking for pics on the net ,but i haven't found any that show how the plow mounts to the truck and how it is all braced to the frame.Pics of All the lower mount is what i am lookn for. contact Meyer directly have all info from the unit you can find unlike Fisher they do not keep out-of-date equipment manuals availiable on their web site I have an 86 with a 7.5 meyer on it. Would that help you out? if so i will take some pictures tomorrow. do you need any particular spots? Nick i'll get some pics of the plow frame i have monday evening. 72-93 should use the same plow setup. I can get pics of my 77 club cab mounts, if needed.... Howdy RodHall ! I guess I should have expected to run into you over here... lol. Mike (440trk) Hmm...no one posted pics yet. I will try to get you some of my 77's setup tomorrow. Sorry for the delay. Gas 5.9L Towing Capacity and Fuel Mileage?
I'm possibly looking for a second truck. I love the look of the 2000ish Dodge Ram 2500 single cab longbeds. I've been looking for a diesel but they are hard to find! How is the 5.9L gas engine? What is the fuel mileage and towing capacity? Thanks guys!wesport ummmm it does decient, depends on the rear end gears, if you get one with the 3:55's it will do decient, if you find one with 4:10's its much better, i searched for a while to find mine, i wanted a 5-speed and tok me a while to find one. Regular cab 4+4 long box towing capacity, 2500, gvwr8800, 5.9, Auto, Axel Ratio (all), gcwr 14,000, max trailer Wt. 8,400 millage 12 to 15 mpg with both of my trucks5.9 Aoto's, 4+4 long box & a short box,Quad cab, both have 4:10 rear ends dont expect to be towing that 8,400 pounds with ease tho, lol maybe if you live in an area with no hills what so ever. esp if your truck has the 3:55 gears.truck just doesnt have the power. its bit of a drive but hell of a deal http://desmoines.craigslist.org/car/395796413.html With my old 2001 Ram 1500 Quad Cab 5.9L I got 6-10mpg plowing. Usually on the lower end of that spectrum too.... Plenty of power though! its bit of a drive but hell of a deal http://desmoines.craigslist.org/car/395796413.html except for the fact it has 200k on it, lol The mileage doesn't really concern me, I'm looking at a truck, so I know what I'm in for. The 8400 lbs. won't work. I need something a bit heftier than than. Oh well, I guess I'm going to have to hold out for a diesel! except for the fact it has 200k on it, lol go find one that nice 4 the money first time out, is your ford having problems towing that much weight or what??? if your looking for something more powerful then your v10 ford your looking in the wrong place with the dodge gasser, lol unless you find a 2500 with the v-10 makes like 400 somethig tq 97dodge3500 is selling a 97 3500 reg cab dually cummins with a V and spreader for $10.8 obo in the for sale section. You said mileage doesnt concern you so I didnt go crazy in reading it but you may want to take a look at it. I know I put that 5.9L 360 to the test a few times and it never had problems. Sucks fuel but plenty of power! Not sure if you're still looking but I am selling my 2000 2500 4x4 with a 360. Around town it gets about 12, highway it gets about 14. It has power everything and 285 tires on it. It's got 137K on it but runs and drives like a champ. I'm in IL though and I noticed its a bit of a drive. I have an 8 ft hiniker for it also. I'm asking 7 for the truck, but I'm flexible. Thanks Bill first time out, is your ford having problems towing that much weight or what??? No, my Ford tows it like a dream. I love this truck. I'm either looking to sell this truck and buy something else or buy a second truck. I drive about 60 miles a day, so a diesel would help with the gas prices slightly. I'm basically just looking for something a little smaller (regular cab long bed). My truck is just too long lol. I don't know, just might be looking for seomthing different. Maybe a cheaper truck and a nice communter car. 1993 Dodge
Hey guys I found a 1993, 3500 dodge pickup, with and extened cab. It has the 5.9 liter turbo diesel. Its an auto with power everything it also has ice cold air. The truck does have really high miles it has 310,000. Also the truck has dual rear wheels. It does look in fairly good condtion. I wanted to know if anyone knows the ups and downs of these trucks is there anything bad to watch out for on these trucks. Also the truck never had a plow on it. I have been a Die hard ford guy for the longest time but I always wanted to own a 1990 to 1993 dodge with the cummins trubo diesel. Let me know what you guys think. THANKS Shane The biggest thing I would keep in mind if I was you, is you are buying a truck with 300K plus miles on it. I'm not sure what to look for as problems in the CTD, but those trucks had some tranny problems. I'm sure though, at 300K, the tranny had to be replaced at least once in there. If it was me, i'd look for something with some lower miles, but a deals a deal! We have 90 1ton SRW with 400,000 miles on it at the shop. we use it for everything plow snow hauling stone rocks, picking up parts.... we have beat the crap out of it. The only issues we have had is the transmission. we have been rebuilding it every 100,000 miles. The body is shot (rust) cab is not longer bolted to the frame and only 2 bolts holding the bed on. Here in a few weeks we plan on putting another body on it, and have no plans to touch the drivetrain. Chris (Rodhall), The 88 w250 I bought from you last season did great over the winter. I did all the body work, and it will be heading to MAACO next month, ready for another winter. I am now looking for a 3rd truck, do you know of any? Thanks, Bob Chris (Rodhall), The 88 w250 I bought from you last season did great over the winter. I did all the body work, and it will be heading to MAACO next month, ready for another winter.
