Lamp out
I have a quick question about my 05' Dodge 1500. I get the Lamp Out light sometimes when I turn them on but after turning them off and on a couple times it goes off. I checked my lights when it came on and everything is working. Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem. You have a "lamp out" light?? What lights does it indicate being out? That's the problem the light comes on but doesn't tell you which one. Start looking for weird ones, dome lights, high mounted stop. I've heard reports that small amounts of corrosion can set it off too. You have a "lamp out" light?? What lights does it indicate being out? That's the part that sucks, it doesn't say it just says Lamp Out right on the dash. Crazy huh! Same thing happens to me on my 2005 Ram 2500. The local Boss shop manager warned me about this when I picked up my plow though. He said he's been getting alot of calls from late model Dodge owners about this issue. He told me the computer is detecting some draw in the circuit, thus triggering the "lamp out" light on the dash, even though no lights are out. He said sometimes the warning chimes go off too, but that hasn't happened to me, yet. Don't know the solution though. Same thing happens to me on my 2005 Ram 2500. I thought for a minute it was an install problem, since I did the install:p , and that I would have to check all my connections over. Thanks Same thing happens to me on my 2005 Ram 2500. I've had both of these problems with both my 2005 and 2003 Dodge's with Boss plows. Even when the plow isn't on, I still get the lamp out light sometimes. My dealer said same thing, that it's the circuitry in the computer / harness that it's an extra draw, enough to set the "light out" light on. :dizzy: Are you sure that all exterior lights are working? Even the high beam?? cause i have that with my plow.. left side high beam is out and trips the warning light on.. it usually goes off after i restart the truck later... different plow (western sealed beam lights) but just thought i'd mention it.. good luck.. The extra draw is the problem. I dont know how boss made their harness to work for the new dodges but the truck wiring is just heavy enough to carry the load for that bulb with each headlight on its own circuit. the boss harness might not be picking up the power form the passengers side headlight and bring it back to the relays so the computer is detecting that the passengers side headlight is not plugged in or that the drivers side is carrying all of the load. Its got my curiosity up, going to have to go and find the schematics for that harness. Don can you contact me, I have a few questions for you about your Ram. I have the same truck and need some advice from you about your install Don can you contact me, I have a few questions for you about your Ram. That's too funny. Sounds like a Cadillac concept! Huh, you mean DC doesn't think it's customers are smart enough to notice when a light bulb doesn't work so it needs the computer to tell you?? That's too funny. Sounds like a Cadillac concept! It's not all bad though, I saw a woman the other day with 1 out of 4 of her brake lights working. The only one working was one bulb in the high mounted light. so it needs the computer to tell you Yeah, and its really frustrating after you get done doing an install and you know all the lights are working and the darn thing just keeps falshing at you, you just end up screaming at the darn truck, "Which light is out". It's not all bad though, I saw a woman the other day with 1 out of 4 of her brake lights working. The only one working was one bulb in the high mounted light. Was she driving a Volvo? More often here I see tail lights with poor or no grounds, or the wrong bulb installed (tail light on one side works correct, but the other side is stuck on "break". If any bulbs are out on your vehicle, aftermarket lights too you fail the yearly safety inspection. And there's no "you're light' out- fix it asap, here's your sticker" stuff. Maybe that has something to do with it. The more idiot proof something is the more there is to go wrong (or as they say if you build something idiot proof they will build a better idiot) Blizzard plows have a service bulletin about the light out issue with the dodges. It required an extra set of relays to be mounted on top of the ones that came with the plow. My plow dealer still got it wired wrong though so blizzard sent me the pdf file for the wiring just havent gotten around to it since its only a minor nusince. if anyone wants a copy of the pdf file let me know. my truck owners manual also says that if that happens that the plow lights are not installed correctly so Dodge knows about the issue too. payup i know someone that had the same problem dont know what causes it but the boss dealer took the truck rewired the plow and we havent had a problem since. Unfortunitly i dont know what they did to fix it. Evan Mine just did it today, I also walked around to see what light might not be working, only one I can tell is the blinker on the plow light, will change it tomorrow and see if it it. Anyone replace their...
Has anyone replaced their rotted tranny lines in a 3 year old truck? I never had to do this on my old 1500 that was 5 years old. No not yet!, But I did need to replace the vac line going to the front axle for the 4+4 engage servo. It seams that where it goes by the exhaust on the frame rail it got to close and melted (worn) through. I replaced mine last year, only because one line was wet near the radiator connection. Yeah okay but your truck is a '96, I'd expect that from a 10 year old, not a two going on three. Yeah okay but your truck is a '96, I'd expect that from a 10 year old, not a two going on three. Your right. Mine even looked "brand new", except for the "film" near the coupling. Didn`t look rusty. did mine last year too- another 96. I wonder how much salt on the roads in your area? I think the design of the Hemi puts the lines lower and less protected then on my old 318. The dealer still has not fixed the A/C, this is the third time they have put more Freon in it without fixing anything. The excuse this time was they only needed to put 1.4 lbs and could not detect a leak in the "obvious" places, plus cold air was blowing from it so it couldn't be that bad....Okay dumb @ss, maybe its blowing cold air because its 28 degrees outside! The mechanic even left the sniffer tool in my truck, I was very tempted to sell the sucker on EBAY, I'm sure its worth couple hundred, but I didn't I went back and gave it to the service writer. You know I love my truck, but dealerships need to learn how to cater to guys who use their truck for work. I can't keep rearranging mine and wifes schedule to drop the truck off for them to have it all day just to look at it then a week later when the parts come it do it all over again, again and again. Mega Cab
Anyone thought about putting a plow on the new Dodge Mega Cab? 2500/3500 Gas or Diesel they are all short beds. There is a CTD MegaCab at the local dealerhsip with what looks like a 8ft Western. I heard of no plow packages being offered on the diesels... Sure why not put a plow on it ? On the Dodge CTD all the " plow prep" is, is a skid plate over the transfer case. I've been in to talk with my dealer about it, and there's no option for the plow prep, but like Epic has said, all the plow prep is for a Dodge is the skid plate. Basically with the extra cab, it's the same blah blah blah about if you have 6 guys in the cab with all their gear with the engine and the plow that you're overloaded. One thing I DO know however, the other day I was looking for something in my 2005 QC 2500 and they had in there 2-3 pages on how to plow snow!?!?!? Guess if your owner's manual is telling you how to plow snow, that the dealer shouldn't have any way to fight repairs from plowing snow?? :nono: I didnt think they recommended plowing with the mega cab..?? I wouldnt want to plow residentials with that thing!:dizzy: there has been alot of confusion with the snow prep package on the diesel rams. there has been many discussions on several of the dodge forum sites on this topic. the diesel rams with the snow prep package get a transfer skid plate and heavier duty coils-. my truck did not come with the snow plow prep package. i have since purchased the coils and the transfer skid plate from my local dealership there has been alot of confusion with the snow prep package on the diesel rams. there has been many discussions on several of the dodge forum sites on this topic. the diesel rams with the snow prep package get a transfer skid plate and heavier duty coils-. my truck did not come with the snow plow prep package. i have since purchased the coils and the transfer skid plate from my local dealership Do you know what the factory plow prep package consists of for gas engines? Thanks. I was at the dealer today and the literature on the 06 truckss says that the snow plow prep is available on all 3/4 and 1 ton trucks regardless of cab/engine config. Plow prep consists of 160-Ampere Alternator (on Hemi engines), 750-Ampere Maintenance-Free Battery, Transfer Case Skid Plate Shield also requires the truck to be ordered with the trailer tow group. I also overheard that the 06 1/2 ton mega cabs come equipped with the 3/4 ton front axle to carry the weight of the cab. festerw summed it up for the gas engine dodge truck As far as I remember, when I got my '05 Cummins, the snow prep was only up to Quad and not Mega. It may be diff. for gasser. As far as I remember, when I got my '05 Cummins, the snow prep was only up to Quad and not Mega. It may be diff. for gasser. THE MEGA CAB DIDNT COME ALONG UNTIL 2006, JUST A LITTLE FYI Which one is the best?
I'm late to getting the new plow this year :( I've tried to gauge from the posts here which band of plow most Dodge owners use but its a tad hard to determine. So, let me ask: For an '05 Dodge 2500 CTD, and for residential plowing only, what is the best brand to go with? I have an 8'6" western on my 05 2500 QC CTD. I wouldn't want anything less for commercial. However, for residential, it could be a bit large. However, I have a fairly narrow drive and I plow it just fine. For the most part I would go with what your local dealer carries. I went with western because my dealer had interest free financing. I have a Blizzard 810 on mine, but Western and Boss also make godd plows. I would go with a Boss 7'6" or 8'. I think anything bigger than that will be a pain. If you really wanna go fancy for that Dodge, get a Boss trip-edge. I have 3 Dodge 3/4 tons 1. Boss v plow 1. straight Hiniker 1. strait Meyers and I hire another guy but he drives a ford with a western.. hope this helps lol:waving: It depends on the area- different localities will have a proliferation of a certain brand of plow because there is a plow dealer/ truck dealer business agreement or there is a limited number of makes for plow dealers in the given area. My immediate local is only a Fisher dealer but in a half hour I can be to a Curtis dealer, Western dealer, or a couple others- 1 hour plus to a Blizzard dealer so there are no Blizzards near me but lots of Fishers and several Westerns and Curtis'. I have only Fishers personally. 05' Ram 1500 SLT Quad Cab 20" wheels
Hey guys, I'm thinking of getting a plow on my new truck. Just wondering what your thoughts on the right plow were. I'm looking at Blizzard, Western, and Curtis. Any ideas and thoughts on which would be best? Mostly for residential driveways and light commercial lots. I had a Blizzard on my 04' Ranger FX4 Level II. I liked that plow alot for driveways but didn't get much commercial stuff as my contractor buddy couldn't take a full size truck off the road for me to jump in. Any help is appreciated. 21 views and noone has any thoughts? Come on guys, I need help...I have the opportunity to get a Curtis, Western, or Blizzard. What would you guys purchase? I've already had a Blizzard and I was happy with it. I know Western is a good buy, but what about Curtis??? First off i am sure i am not the first one to tell you this, but the new style 1500 are not the best choice in plow truck. If you were happy with the Blizzard why not go with it? Someone else on here uses a Blizzard 760 lt on his 04 1500, says the truck carries that well. Don't know much about the curtis, and from what i hear, the western is over rated. I run a 7'6" Boss standard duty and love it. It mounts quick and easy, effortless. The weight is somewhere around 650 and there is no chain slapping when transporting. Anyways, if you loved the blizzard i would stick with it. Good luck. I hat to sound like a broken record but do a search, this has been discussed in length already. You might think your situation is unique but really it isn't. This site gets a dozen requests, just like yours, daily. Having said that, us2 is correct. No matter what plow you go with your truck is limited by weight. You're front end is going to sag without adjustments. Stick with a 7.5' or a light 8'. you'll need ballast in back. You might need different tires. All of this has been discussed in length already in several hundred posts. Well today I ordered a 760LT Blizzard plow for my dodge. It will be installed a few days before Xmas. Now all I need is a couple good storms this season so I can at least make the money for the plow back. I will keep ya posted as to how my Ram handles this new blade. You did good. Don't forget some pics for us.:) Well the dealer called me this morning after trying to order the plow for me. Turns out Blizzard is out of stock...Called around some more and I'll be getting a 7.5' Meyer. I'll post some pics when it's installed. Check out my truck its the same as what your talking about. I know that meyer is not the most popular choice but i have meyer 7.5 on 99 Doage 1500 sport . I have about 18 driveways and 4 commercial lots and it does well. Check out my truck its the same as what your talking about. NICE EQUIPMENT!!!! PUSHIN SNOW IN STYLE! NICE EQUIPMENT!!!! PUSHIN SNOW IN STYLE! Thanks! I do look good in my new ride!:p :waving: Ynot 5, If the Blizzard is what you want then buy it! Don't settle for something you don't want because you'll never be happy with it! Myself I push with a 2001 1500 ram. Western Plow 7'6" I put Timbrens in the front end and put close to 300lbs behind the rear wheels for balast. I haven't had any problems. My 1st thought when I read your posting was your tires, Your running 20" tires for plowing? Are they on low profile rims? If so take your truck to a puff daddy concert so you can get the right wheels. Tall and skinny, Are you going for a show plow or do you want to actually plow snow? I run 265 75R-16 on the stock wheels. I dont' mean to sound like a pinhead but, I learned through the school of hard knocks and it costs tons of money!!! I've learned alot from this website and before you spend and more research it a little and find what you want and what you need! Good luck, PaleRider :guns: I plow with the 20's on my truck and I plow all commercial. I plow 5 schools and a large commercial parking lot and they are much better than you would expect. The goodyears that come on it actually clean themselves out really well. My two buddies bought new king ranch F350's and the first time we got 8 inches of snow back in december, they're trucks couldn't go anywher, and I was plowing circles around them. You will be suprised how good they are in the snow, I was shocked! PS, you can't put 16's on it, you can only go as small as 17 That is my exact truck....Just put the plow on for the first time since I bought it.....Calling for 6-12 in central jersey...Did u do anything to the front end and how much balast do you use? I have timbrens and 360lbs ballast in mine. Well just got done cranking the torsion bars and picking up bags for balast. I put 400lbs. against the bed....And I'm ready to go. Wow Labinsky that truck is AWESOME, I love the new dodges with Fishers. Got any warning lights? And Is that a steel cutting edge on there? I figure that to be like 735 pounds on the front of that ram, holdin pretty well, NICE. Hey RidehardNY how about pictures of your truck at an angle from the side so we can see the whole sweet lookin black dodge? Anybody else with new ram 1500s with plows, lets see some pics!!:D Ready for first plow. here they are
